bwanie, I'm not so sure what they did to Korea was worse than what they did to the Chinese. They set the bar pretty high there. However, Japan and Korea have a very long history. I think there's some museum thing in Japan with like 30,000 collected Korean heads or so.
In Kyoto, Japan, the Korean Ear Mound is a 500-year-old pile of thousands of ears that Samurai warriors cut off their enemies. The Samurai generals got a bonus for each soldier they killed in Korea. At first they sent back heads, but when the ships got too crowded, they started dispatching just the ears.

The thing about that Chris Rock thing isn't so much the obvious "a white guy doing that bit would get lynched" thing, but the fact that it no doubt led a bunch of white guys with the ever popular secret racist views to go off on one about "n-words" with the defense that "chris rock did it!"
the Koreans are like the exiled servant class of the Japanese, or something of that nature. Calling a Japanese fellow a Korean is supposed to be the height of insults.
