I particularly enjoy the fantasy elements in their fresh fresh rhymes.
Example: "Saviorself" (Vinnie Paz's verses only, and I cut out some lines that don't translate from mp3 to forum very well)
Basically anything with the topic of "hey this sweet shit happened 2000 years ago, lemme tell you about it. (Also, gangster shit and jihad, olol)"
I built with Alexander the Great
He told the Persians they should stay gone
Then he told me about the Oracle of Ammon
He gave me no clue, where it is
Men fear time, yet time fears the pyramids
He gave me more jewels, he told me that
Amenhotep was immortal, I can't overstand hieroglyph
So I called Killah Priest, and he taught me how to follow it
I walked through the Valley of the Kings
With a white robe, white rose and what I will brings
And your whole team Judas, my road thin, gold skin like Jewses
I speak the dialogue of the dead, I practice the same war tactics
In King Arthur's head, so let the swordsmen kill the beast
It's a Legacy of Blood, with Vinnie Paz and Killah Priest
I studied element 1-15, with the Eloheim
Saw the Canaanites, Sumerians, and the Philistines
This is street gospel, if you don't believe
In life at Mars, that mean the beast got you
You don't wanna see me and Killah Priest hostile
You don't wanna see, desert eag' heat pop you
This is Mothman Prophecy, walk back
To the sand of Iraq, and let the prophet breath
Returned all our water in the toxic seas
And walk in the wall with armour that I copped in the greece
Then I shoot the thieves, with a long arrow
Studied Imhotep, to be a strong Pharoah
It's a war when the God's spit
It's Allah, when I split the ice bergs, in the arctic
I don't care what the cause is
And I'mma ride for my fam, no matter what the cost is
Edit:
I just watched the video you linked to. Ehh....
I have heard that the Decemberists sound like them kind of
i like them a whole lot but remember i am an indie faggot when it comes to my musical taste
if indie fag was a flammable substance, you could take out the entire state of California with a copy of in the aeroplane over the sea and a zippo lighter
god I adore that album though
also I saw the Hold Steady over the weekend, man they were good
Their best album is Agaetis Byrjun. Anything else by them is nowhere near as good as that album.
I don't really like their new album. Feels like a half assed effort to me.
Precisely what I was gonna say. Although Takk is great too, as a whole if not with individual songs.
By the way, somebody mentioned the Gorillaz D-Sides. Here is my review:
So the album is divided into two parts, the first is gorillaz songs and the second are some remixes of demon days songs.
Since it's a sides album it doesn't mesh as a whole but that's expected because of their wide styles range. Some pretty good songs, specifically 68 State, HongKongatron, We Are Happy Landfill, and i guess Spitting Out The Demons as well but only because it reminds me of the old MIB cartoon theme. The rest are pretty meh.
The second half of the album are the mixes. Honestly, all except two suck. A remix should offer a different perspective on the song and not just move some sounds around. The only two I liked are Dare (Junior Sanchez Remix) which adds a prominent guitar riff soundtrack, and Dirty Harry (Schtung Chinese New Year Remix) which is entirely in chinese and adds flutes and it might be the best song on the entire album behind MAYBE 68 State.
Hey do any of you guys listen to any drone or noise? Over the past year I've been getting increasingly into it and have been making a lot of drone myself. It rules.

I have a SUNNO))) album but it's not really my cup of tea
my friends swear by the 'dopesmoker' album however

Sleep doesn't really get far enough into the doom metal aesthetic to qualify as drone, and I'd go with Holy Mountain over Dopesmoker.
