How'd you find the build process? I'd heard some rumblings that it's kind of a bear to build.

Process was largely fine, but the arms and connection between torso and waist are both looser than I'd like. Not a huge deal since I usually just pose it and leave it alone

Hey Gunpla thread, if I'm going to be spray painting a part do I need to sand the whole thing, or just make sure there are no rough edges/nub marks/etc?

I'm going to be using Tamiya brand TS series spray paint if that matters.

It depends on how meticulous you want to get. Sanding the entire thing isn't a requirement. If you want your paint to be crazy smooth and later want it to be hyper glossy, you can sand the whole thing to a very fine degree. Otherwise, just getting rid of the obvious seams, nub marks, etc will be just fine.

All you need to do is remove rough edges and nub marks. Even the pro painters I watch like Matt Mrozek (MVM3897) get by with only sanding down to a 600 grit, and you need a much finer sanding to get plastic back to a glossy coat. The key to getting a good coating is to make sure you use a good primer. A good primer, as I expect any Tamiya primer to be, is self leveling. This means it will fill in any tiny imperfections like light scratch marks from sanding, but won't obscure any details on the model. It also has a very good gripping strength, so that it sticks well to the model and paints stick well to it. Straight painting on plastic can have issues where it doesn't stick well.

Also, wash your parts and let them thoroughly dry before painting. Getting rid of oils and mold release agents will help insure your paint sticks correctly.

Papaguy is up for Prime preorder over on Amazon! March 1 release date. Got mine pre ordered.

08th MS Team Ground GM is also showing up, but not on Prime. Should be up soon I'd imagine.

I actually got a glass and metal shelf to display them on. But I needed something in a space in my house anyway.

The revive Gyan is so good. I was so happy they based the Gyancelot off it and not the old Gyan kit.

So has anyone had experience with this kit? It's a decent amount more expensive than a lot of other HG kits, and i'm wondering if that's due to licensing or something
