It's kinda funny to listen to a middle aged rapper complain about not being able to play xbox when he gets home. It's a fun cover of Suicidal Tendencies, though.
Just posting my usual thing here... I (re)discovered this old dog that I hadn't listened to in a while and hell, it's aces! :heartbeat:
I like the punky DIY vibe of it even though the production actually is pretty accessible. And the riffs are some real treats (fifth track Endless Repent at 01:39, for example)!
Edit : Just to be clear, this isn't an attempt to by me to moderate this thread or attempt to regulate what can or cannot be posted here. This was a polite version of what I was really thinking, which is "Fuck Absurd and fuck NSBM". I have good faith in the people in this thread and maybe those who posted Absurd's music didn't know about their politics, so I would urge you to reconsider your posts in light of that.

Another new Nightbringer track is up. This album is shaping up to be something.
How is Gojira live? I would have preferred that the Seattle Metallica show was Volbeat instead of them. Never really listened to them. Only really heard Justin in his cameos elsewhere.

I'm not a fan of much NS music I've heard and I'm rabidly anti-NS/anti-fascist.
However, I hold freedom of expression as generally more important than protecting anyone from feeling offended, even when I'm the offended party.
Also, I prefer not to forget history by putting a safe bubble around myself.
Personally, I find that offensive shit occurring is a great excuse to speak against and act against offensive crap, instead of sweeping the horror that is our shared human nature under the rug with blithe complacency.
There's not even consensus at MA that Absurd is actually an NSBM band, so where does the censorship stop? What are the bounds that we can ALL agree on, or do we need to deescalate and just say that we don't like X NS band because they are NS and leave it at that?
Man, I'm getting flashbacks to that Antifa group that went overboard with their 'naughty black metal' list from a few months back, claiming that bands like Summoning, Darkthrone and Dissection were NSBM bands that should be avoided at all costs
I didn't even realize they were Nazis and just skimming the liner notes before I posted it, it seemed like basic satanic BM stuff. I saw it on a metal art tumblr that has never posted anything that seemed blatantly fascist so I guess I assumed this band wasn't.

The species has been named Websteroprion armstrongi. This honours Armstrong, who collected the material, and bass player extraordinaire, Alex Webster of Death Metal band Cannibal Corpse, since he can be regarded as a 'giant' when it comes to handling his instrument.
Luke Parry added: "This is fitting also since, beside our appetite for evolution and paleontology, all three authors have a profound interest in music and are keen hobby musicians."
Yes, that album does stand the test of time, and every year or so we get the guy saying 'the new album is done, we'll let you all hear it soon' but it never seems to manifest.
Could this be the one? We'll see, but at this point the expectations probably exceed what the results could possibly be.

Sólstafir just announced their new album, titled Berdreyminn, is coming out May 26th. I liked their previous album, but I didn't really enjoy it as much as some of their other albums.

Monstrous.

And if anyone is looking for a spectacular gift, there's a Sega Dreamcast signed by Fred Durst on eBay.
Came across this really strange but neat band called Montfaucon. They're a death metal band with a heavy emphasis on piano throughout. I don't know how else to explain it but check it out:

The Downward Spiral is an odd inclusion but I have to agree, most of those are in fact less dark - or at least less melodramatic - than "democracy dies in darkness."
A bit on the slower or more mellow side. Knowing these guys, this song is just one that fits into an overall pattern and story within the greater album. So I'll be curious to hear how the rest of it turns out. I've been waiting for this album for ages, their last full length album, Februus, came out in 2011...
Here are my picks. Of the metals. For February and environs.
Craven IdolThe Shackles of Mammon (UK blackened death thrashers continue to up their ante, great balanced album that draws heavily on 80s and 90s elements from those styles)
Falls of Rauros ] Vigilance Perennial (Rustic New England black metal tempered with blues, prog rock and whatever they really want...their best album yet in my opinion)
InfernoGnosis Kardias (atmospheric Czech black metal with a lot of depth to it, seems like a clutter at first until you really explore it and flesh it out, fans of the harsher Spectral Lore material would be into it)
Iron ReaganCrossover Ministry (if you're looking for more in the vein of Municipal Waste, D.R.I., S.O.D. or Nuclear Assault then look no freakin' further)
Lorna ShoreFlesh Coffin (hey, look, a deathcore album I actually like from these Jersey boys, all the breakdown hallmarks you'd expect plus a little black metal vocal style mixed in, lots of complexity and atmosphere)
SinisterSyncretism (best Sinister album in forever, they go back to their old style but still include a ton of the later brutality and some atmosphere, just a great mix on this)
StrikerStriker (came on pretty fast after the last album, but this one's also got some really great tunes, Canadian trad heavy metal, with a few streaks of early Anthrax-like speed metal on it)

I'm digging the new Immolation. It's not anything really new, but it's a well put together NYDM album with all the skronky riffs you'd expect from them.
And the new Overkill is more of the middle of pack in their albums, but it definitely has some good songs on it.
Yeah, I'll write about the new Overkill next week, it has some exciting parts but a lot of pretty bland riffs there from the 90s groove metal influence.
New Barathrum is actually not that great. Rowdy but not too catchy.
Edit: Apparently a few hours before Solstafir released that track, Katla released their first song. That's the ex-drummer of Solstafir's new band. There's some drama there, but the song's pretty interesting: https://katlaiceland.bandcamp.com/track/hyld-pi-2

And the new Immolation is sounding good. Classic NY death metal from them again.

This album has stood the test of time, and only climbd the ranks of my favorite albums over the last 11 years I've been listening to it.
Where's the 5th album? I remember it being rumored to have already been recorded, yet never got released.
Miss the fuck out of these guys, I would kill for one more album.
The conductor left long long ago, if one ever existed at all.
Could this be the one? We'll see, but at this point the expectations probably exceed what the results could possibly be.

(Does anyone know how to embed bandcamp tracks?)
Hah.
Hahahah.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
This sounds cooler than I thought it would. Also noticed that Dan Swanö mixed and mastered the album.
I don't think there's a way to embed bandcamp stuff on this forum.

Yeah, I remember 2000 too.

It came as a followup on the WH's 2017 announcement so good things coming, any which way huh?

This is some good shit.
The Downward Spiral is an odd inclusion but I have to agree, most of those are in fact less dark - or at least less melodramatic - than "democracy dies in darkness."
Anyway a very early Anthrax vibe on this one, when they were more speed metal, meets the melodic heavy metal that they've already been mastering.

Sinister Syncretism (best Sinister album in forever, they go back to their old style but still include a ton of the later brutality and some atmosphere, just a great mix on this)
Skeletal Dreadful Life (my fave of the month, vintage Finnish death metal style but feels fresh and has a great balance of melody with the aggression)
Striker Striker (came on pretty fast after the last album, but this one's also got some really great tunes, Canadian trad heavy metal, with a few streaks of early Anthrax-like speed metal on it)
Tomb Mold Primordial Malignity (groaaaarrrrrrr.....undead festering raw colon rupturing death metal)
Venenum Trance of Death (great full-length for these morbid German death cultists, lots of atmosphere and interesting tunes to explore throughout)
And the new Overkill is more of the middle of pack in their albums, but it definitely has some good songs on it.

Well here's a glimpse of Medico Peste's upcoming release Herzogian Darkness in the form of Hallucinating Warmth and Bliss.
Dat tremello picking, I am digging it.

And the new Patria is sounding good. Thrashy black-metal from Brazil.

Definitely some of their best work in a while. They probably could have cut it down to a single disc and it would have been a better album, though.
My Backloggery
I'd cut about 5 songs out and have a much more solid album.
But gods damn do I love "Halo on Fire" and "Spit out the Bone". Those are legitimately great songs to me.
I like some others, but holy hell man. Those are great.
