Eh? I jsut checked the links and they're working fine. Download the game from the first link, not from the fileshack one.

Somehow I missed the link in the name. However, the first "here" points to a 404, and the second "here" gets you stuck in some poorly made java/cookie loop for eternity.

Just tried it today and to be frank, words really cant describe just how awesome this game is.Its great when you just go into sandbox and just have a huge wave suicide ships bum rush a bunch of massive space stations and just watch how it turns out, debris goes everywhere and sets of a massive
chain reaction that just leaves everything completly wrecked.

A few minor bug fixes for the, this release is mostly to fix the shipmaker. I've also added the feature to resize the ship core as you like and assign the core a custom colour. This means that you can now have a ship with completely custom colours all the way through.

This is a major new version of the game because the Encounter Maker is finally live. You can now create your own encounters involving custom ships and share them around. An encounter is fully self-contained, as the .shp files for the custom ships used in an encounter are embedded into the .enc file itself. This means that it's now easy to share your own custom battles with everyone. Re-enact your favourite space battles in an encounter, dream up whole new conflicts and share them with your friends!

Also new is the new projectile colouring system which allows full re-colouring of bullets, as seen below:

With this release, Battleships Forever is officially feature complete. There's still some way to go with the content and polish, but all the features that I intend to implement are hereby live.

So, have fun peeps, and remember to vote for Battleships Forever at http://www.igf.com/audience.php !

Well, not to be necromancing this thread or anything, but Battleships Forever has come a loooooooooong way since the last few posts on this thread. While the game hasn't really been updated (BSF-2 is in the works now, yay!) many new ways to modify the existing weapons and armor arrive almost daily. The simply tachyon cannons now find purpose as 360* pulse waves of death, and single beamers, when stacked, become planet killing rays capable of splitting ships in two...

Here are some of my ships, while they pale in comparison to most others on the game's site, i'm quite pleased with the way they've turned out ^^

Here are a few next to the main star fortress(the shuriken-station thing). Note that the tiny green ship is an in-game stock ship, to show the size difference.

    A few battle shots-

As I said, mine aren't too great. Real greatness lies in the winning ships of the third official ship tournament. This leviathan is the work of Kazuael, winner of the third tournament in the original ships category, the Cathedral of Stars.

Sweet, I'd forgotten all about this game, it's so unbelievably awesome. The guy who made this should be hired by Maxis to make a "Better space combat with meaningful customization to ships" expansion for Spore. This is a perfect example of what full customizability is. Make any ship you want, and any design can be kinda practical if you want to cheat a little and spam certain modules however every design decision you make impacts the performance of the ship.

I love it. I had so hoped that spores ship creator would be like this.

Arghhhh. Why did you unbury this thread. I was restraining myself from redownloading this by playing TF2 and CoD4, but the urge to make ships with PEW PEW LAZORBEAMS is strong.

The shipbuilders on wyrdysm are awesome shipbuilders.

Oooh. Th15 is apparently working on a BSF2, with a game company, not sure how that'll work out, but says they're working on a more professional language that Game Maker.
