so i'm going to purchase a ps3 in a moment

but i only have a vague idea of what games to get.

so far the list i have is:

ratchet and clank
dmc4
warhawk

and yeah... is there anything else? we're mostly getting one right now for the bluray capabilities, but i know there's gonna be a ton of titles down the road.

    Jump onto Monoprice and order up a 10$ HDMI cable if your set up supports it. The games you list are all great titles, though I hear Uncharted is also quite nice. A second controller also never hurts and if your buying as a BR player, the bluetooth remote is nice.

    And that's it :D I've been researching the same thing for the past few weeks, from the same viewpoint -- get it as a BD player and enjoy the few good games that are out now. You've listed them, and add Uncharted. The others are FPS or can be had on the 360. Get monoprice HDMI cables and the remote, although I've heard that some setups include a coupon for a free remote. Also, the Nyko remote system is infra-red, which, while technically inferior to the bluetooth remote, allows you to use a universal remote.

    Of course, the other game recs depend on how much you like FPSs.

    Games I'd recommend:

    Resistence
    Ninja Gaiden Sigma (If you haven't played it on Xbox)
    Motorstorm (if you get it for cheap)
    Virtua Fighter 5 (If you don't care about online gaming)
    Ridge Racer 7
    Heavenly Sword.
