Jason pretty much said that once the strike was over there was going to be a movie, and that he and the other castmembers all agreed to do it.

That was sometime mid writers strike.

Juno was pretty good, I thought. The dialogue sounded nothing like how people would talk in real life, but that's indie movie dialogue for you.

This is the happiest gravedigging I've ever done.

What we have here is the rarest of all Oh Don Pianos... one that came true. For some time it's been de rigeur at press events, bar mitzvahs and secret Bilderberg meetings to ask the cast of Arrested Development if the show might get resurrected as a movie. The answer was always a half-hearted 'It's a Mitchell Hurwitz decision, and I'd love to come back if it happened,' but you could tell that no one thought it would happen. The rumors about a film just will not die, despite David Cross and (the increasingly busy) Michael Cera saying they know nothing about it.

Now there's been a one-two punch of 'confirmation.' While interviewing Jason Bateman about Hancock, the Times of London simply states: 'A big-screen version of Arrested Development is planned for next year.' This is not a quote from Bateman, but it prefaces a quote from him describing how the movie would be different from the show (“When it was on TV, if you missed one word the whole third act could be blown for you. And TV is a different experience. You come home and you've got to finish a call so you miss the first ten minutes or you get snacky and you go to the fridge and you miss another two minutes, so it's a different experience to film.”). This sort of thing is why I like to run transcripts - did they paraphrase Bateman saying there would be a movie next year or is this a case of Oh Don Piano run rampant (possible question from the reporter: "How would an Arrested Development movie differ from the TV show?")?

But wait, there's more. According to a commenter on Defamer, Jeffrey Tambor was on Craig Ferguson on Friday and said that the movie was happening. I don't watch that kind of show, so if anyone can confirm this, I'd be grateful. I should be seeing Tambor this weekend at various Hellboy II events - I'll grill him on it.

Bluth family lovers, rejoice! Former Arrested Development costar Jeffrey Tambor has confirmed published reports that a movie version of the Emmy-winning Fox comedy is in the works. “After months of speculation, I think we have finally figured out for sure that we are indeed doing an Arrested Development movie," Tambor told EW.com at the premiere of Hellboy II on Sunday. "I am very excited about that. I love that cast and crew and I felt like we had more to say."

The series, which aired for three seasons, starred Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, and Michael Cera. The single-camera comedy was beloved by critics, but was never a ratings bonanza for Fox, which canceled the show a year after it won the Emmy award for best comedy. They should get Ellen to be in it. She could date Tobias.

Man, I haven't managed to get my friends into Arrested Development, which sucks, because I think they'd really like it if they gave it a try

It doesn't help that the first couple of episodes aren't the funniest, and it takes a little while to figure out the characters

Always Sunny is in fierce competition with Venture Bros. for my favorite still-airing show.

It is fucking wonderful. Like an even more anti-social Seinfeld.

My favorite episode, by far, is "Mac Bangs Dennis' Mom"

Such labyrinthine plotting, and all of it motivated by nothing but spite and petty bullshit. And that ending - man.

7th Heaven dad was so perfect. Simultaneously playing the same character, and a parody of that character. It was great.
