    I like pony's writing style

    I use it sometimes myself

I don't really bother with punctuation or even capital letters sometimes on this forum

That's the great thing about it; it's a chat forum. I'll write purely as it sounds in my head

I used to write with proper punctuation, and in complete sentences. After a few months of posting, I realized that nobody actually cared. In fact, I found that a lot of people avoided reading my posts in general because they just looked like giant blocks of text.

I tried to experiment with paragraphs instead, to try to break things up a little. I tried to remember all the shit I learned in high school English and compose paragraphs that contained complete thoughts before moving on the next one.

Ultimately, nobody gave a shit. Some people read my posts anyway, but a lot of people didn't.

    then

    like magic

i throw in line-breaks and stop giving a fuck about punctuation and capitalization

and just write like i am speaking

    suddenly people pay attention

periodically people tease me about it

or actually get annoyed and bitch loudly

    but ultimately

    fuck em

you know i've never read that

people keep recommending it to me

and that causes a weird reaction in me where if people keep recommending something to me because "i'm sure you would like it" i actually build a resistance to trying it and i avoid it

because 9/10 times people are so fucking wrong with that

and it's like a slap in the face that not only did they recommend something to me i did not enjoy

it's like it's made clear they don't fucking know what i like at all

it's like when i was in high school

my english teacher recommended i read catcher in the rye

that i would like it, that i have so much in common with holden and the book will really speak to me and all that

i trusted her opinion on the subject so i gave it a read

did you know it is one of the few books i can say, definitively, that i hate?

best if it's something that's not new to you, but something you've previously enjoyed

The PA books are one of the most solid choices I've made in years. With the commentary by Tycho in place, you are basically guaranteed some context so you can remember what made each comic funny. Plus, the commentary is pretty damn funny on its own, and the selected newsposts are just great to have around in a portable, analog format.

i really disliked catcher in the rye primarily because holden is basically a colossal bitch who takes life up the ass and whines about it

    he's like

    the original emo kid

part of me resented the insinuation that i am anything like such a whiney bitch

but truth be told, even without that

it was a boring story about an emo kid

    whoop dee fucking doo

i don't need a character to be likeable or someone i can relate to in order to enjoy a story. it can just be interesting on its own merits

it was not, so it failed me

I think the fact that you often come into topics and post independently of past replies, and the fact that the things you post are often the aforementioned whacky anecdotes leads to you having a dominating presence in many topics you enter, ie a high percentage of the people posting will be talking to you / about you.

This was much, much worse several months ago than it is now; I'm sure you remember taking that break from SE because people couldn't stop talking about how much of your dick they wanted to suck.

Depends. Usually I am in and out but sometimes it takes longer, and it helps to keep something around to read and relax to. Something that will take you five minutes to read, like a couple pages of comic strips or an magazine article.

Pony you've seen Conspiracy Theory, right? Because the main character in that movie was played by mel Gibson and he was conditioned by the government to buy a copy of Catcher in the Rye every time he saw it so he'd be easier for them to track.

I thought he was too whiny and pathetic as a character as well. It's a decent book to read just so you can say you've read it I guess, but it's not something I would reccomend people to read on it's story alone.

It seems to be a decent example of a piece of media that isn't very good getting wrapped up in a lot of hype and making people think it's a lot better than it really is. Like Caligula.
