I'm making a Full Moon Caste Lunar, ranged specialist, with a backup specialty in Medicine. From the East.

Will be doing her sheet tomorrow night when I get home from work.

Thats prolly a good idea. I'd be closer to getting my character done, but getting sick after having your wisdom teeth removed is kinda counter to any sort of productiveness.

I'm considering rolling up a character if you need a final slot.

Perhaps the most twinky dawn you've ever seen. I'm talking a sword longer than your body.

Heh, Having your wisdom teath removed is no picnic. I had all four of mine taken out, the actual operation was no big deal, I was asleep for that. The next three days weren't fun though. They hurt and I couldn't eat any good food.

Plutonium, This's kinda full up. I should probably change the title :/
    Sorry about that.

Whoever wrote the Armorium seems to have a dislike of slow and devastating weapons, blunt weapons in particular. Its making it hard to find a weapon I like the style of but isn't overshadowed by something like the Poleklave.

Just use the Grand Goremaul from the corebook, then.

Statistically it is the best weapon.

Also, it is a GIANT HAMMER. Which is cool.

See, that's why I dislike the Armorium. Sure, if people aren't looking to twink it balances things out, but for a lot of things it just nerfs them so that nobody wants to use them.

It's a giant giant warhammer made out of the magical materials. Why shouldn't it be statistically just plain better than a Switchklave?

Hell, just compare it to the Grand Daiklave in the Armorium. It does bashing damage equal to the LETHAL damage of the GD, has lower accuracy and a lower rate. Yet they're supposedly the same artifact rating? It doesn't even succeed at producing a balanced set of weapons, since nobody would want to take a Goremaul with those stats.

What the Armorium does succeed at is providing Artifact versions of a lot of the mundane weapons that don't have them, and I heartily approve of that. For example, my Butterfly Fans in the other PbP game. They're statted from the Armorium, there's no stats for them in any of the written materials, and I enjoy the benefits.

IMO, the Grand Daiklave from the corebook is significantly better than the Grand Goremaul, simple because of the Rate and extra Hearthstone settings. Sure, you get an extra 4L damage with the Goremaul, but you can only attack once per round as opposed to twice. Unless you're using Extra Action charms you can't make more attacks in a round than the Rate of your weapon. And having three Hearthstones as opposed to one? That makes a huge difference, especially when you consider how many weapon-buffing Hearthstones there are.

see that's what the armorium seeks to avoid

the goremaul is ridiculous, above and beyond any other weapon

Aside from the lethal damage(Seriously, what?), it compares pretty well to the other ●●● weapons. Against a Grand Daiklave it trades +4damage for -1accuracy, -1Defence, and -1Rate, the Daiklave has the option of being slightly weaker but more accurate/defensive or flurrying and doing more damage for less accuracy/defense. If you switched the damage to Bashing and increased the speed to 6 it would be quite comparable to the Grimcleaver and Grimscythe(which are for some reason mechanically identical) as well. But as it stands the Armorium's Grand Goremaul is worse in every single way than the book's regular Goremaul.

It isn't even that great compared against other Armorium weapons(which as a whole seem weaker than the book's). Against the Grand Daiklave it gains Piercing in exchange for -1accuracy, bashing instead of lethal, no bonus minimum damage, and -1rate. Against the poleklave it gets Piercing and 2damage in exchange for -2accuracy, bashing instead of lethal, no bonus minimum damage, -2defence, -2rate, and +1atunement cost.

Balancing the weapons is a fine goal but the Armorium isn't balanced, its simply imbalanced in different directions.

that's because the Goremaul in the core is absurd

think about it, who will be the people using it? the twinkiest dawn. when you get those extra action charms, the stuff just comes out as being absurd, and the 'hearthstone' drawback can be supplanted by bracers, which orichalcum provides 2 more damage dice. I mean it's not my decision in the end, but when someone takes the grand goremaul, everyone else really feels the difference. and I mean, if you really want the power, the Grand Goremace is from what I can see identical to the old goremaul except switching from lethal to bashing, one less minimum damage, and a tiny bit slower. considering the multiple ways to switch from bashing to lethal and getting extra action charms and speedy attacks, I fail to see how the argument holds water

also, rainfall, the armorium grand daiklave has 2 settings, just like the goremaul and goremace. so again, I fail to see what the issue is aside from wanting lethal damage on a blunt impact weapon

I don't really care about the lethal damage, and in fact I'm surprised that the GGM doing lethal wasn't a typo and switched to bashing damage in the errata. Hammers should do bashing. What I care about is the lack of an accurate, slow, and heavy weapon; preferably that IS bashing. Stick it with a high speed and a defense penalty, thats fine and makes sense.

There are only two Rate:1 weapons that have a positive accuracy modifier. First is the Grand Dire Spear which ain't all that great damage-wise and doesn't fit the concept. Second is the Ringklave, which is a combat hula-hoop.

that's the thing though. you're swinging around a cadillac on a stick. Blunt weapons aren't meant for precision blows, they're for hitting the other guy and breaking every bone in his body. you're not going to remove the guy's ear with your hammer.

    Background
Zenaar(Zen-are) was born under a different name, since discarded, in a farming village south of Nexus on the western bank of the Gray River. When he was 20 years of age the village had begun to grow larger than their fields could support and it was decided that a number of families would move and settle into a nearby-untouched valley. Zenaar’s family was one of the ones whom volunteered to go.

At first things seemed to be going well, the soil was fertile and there was numerous trees for lumber with which to build houses. But the valley was under the watch of a pack of Dogs of the Unbroken Earth and once the first homes were constructed they made their presence known, once night fell the spirits attacked the village, tore down their buildings, and rent their flesh with claws. Less than a dozen of the villagers survived, scattered in all directions.

Zenaar scrambled up the hills uncasing the valley stopping, exhausted, only once he reached the summit and realized the spirits were no longer chasing him. Filled with feelings of sorrow and rage he screamed at the heavens and surrounding stones, demanding answers for why the night’s events had occurred. He was shocked when he received a response.

A vision of the Unconquered Sun appeared and spoke to him of a time when spirits were held in check by great leaders, a time of peace for the citizens of creation, and how those times could once again come about. Zenaar sat entranced, listening to the words of the God and when the vision faded he found that the sun had risen to its peak in the sky and a new vitality flowed through him.

Desperate to learn more Zenaar began to wander aimlessly throughout the scavenger lands seeking out scholars or anyone else whom he thought could teach him, he had little luck finding anyone to help however. But when he approached the Marukan mountain range, he began to have strange half-glimpsed dreams. The dreams led him high into the mountains to a cave then far below the surface to the heart of the mountain, the light from his caste-mark leading the way. After several days hiking through the caves he arrived at a door carved of the blackest Onyx.

At first the door resisted his attempt to push it open but after a moment of exertion his caste-mark flared brightly and the door swung open easily on its hinges. Inside he found a large room(50’x50’) carved of black onyx, white onyx bands ran from each corner of the room forming a rough X across the middle of the floor, and swirls of red were visible in the walls. Set into the northern and southern walls was a single door each. Drawn immediately to the center of the room he sat down and meditated on his recent dreams. He meditated in this way for a year and a day, stopping only to sleep and venture to the surface for food.

His head now filled with memories of the first age, explored the other two rooms. In the Southern room he found a shining gold breastplate and a massive hammer under a plaque that read, “May your faith protect you, and your judgment be divine.” In the Northern room he found a Shallow Onyx well, at the bottom of which sat an egg-sized stone which was black with white bands.

Armed with these tools he set forth back into the world. His first destination was the village where he was born and the valley where his family died. Confronting the Dogs of Unbroken Earth that resided there he faced them in battle. When he emerged victorious he made no attempt to kill or enslave them, he only made them swear an oath to allow humans to settle the valley. In exchange the humans would sacrifice 2 cows at the change of every season to the spirits.

When he walked into the village to tell the villager’s of this they were skeptical, remembering the previous attempt to settle the valley. But encouraged by Zenaar some eventually made the decision to move. Zenaar remained with them for three seasons, ensuring that both sides kept their side of the bargain before deciding that he had to move on.
    Appearance
Zenaar is 23 years old and stands 6' 3". He wears a pair of light brown pants and a white shirt under his breastplate. His hair is a dirty-blond color that hangs down to his shoulders and his eyes are a deep green.

So, I'm undecided, I basically have two concepts rolling around in my head. there's Lion, who I posted on the first page, and this gal. Background
Sesus Lisandra was born as one of the many children of House Sesus, a potential Princess of the Earth. There was hope that the Blood of the Dragons flowed through her veins, but by her 18th birthday it was obviously not the case. Seeing that there was no hope for Exaltation in the girl, she was assigned to one of the many Realm Legions in the Threshold, where her family hoped she would be forgotten about and eventually die.

It would have happened. Especially under her commander, Sesus Hario. Hario was one of her brothers and treated the mortal girl like some kind of plague-bearer. Lepers received better treatment from her brother and his fellow terrestrial officers.

This sired nothing but hatred in the young woman's heart, and she vowed one day to slit her brother and his friends' throats. It was a just a dream, however. Atleast, that's what she thought.

One night she was on watch duty and she felt a man slip up beside her. Thinking it was her relief, she turned to him.

    "Oh, thank goodness Erick, I - "

A hand pressed around her mouth, and a voice whispered in her ear. "Shh, shh, don't scream."

The camp was woken up a few short moments later by light brighter than day. Lisandra had grabbed the man's blade and cut his head clean off. She had turned into a frenzied demon, and the bloodshed didn't cease until the actual dawn the next morning. All of the officers in the camp lie dead, the rest of the mortal soldiers in shock and awe.

"Just... get out of here," she said. "And if you go back..."

"Tell them I'm coming to kill every last one of them."

If this is going to be a combat-heavy campaign would Followers be an ok idea, or would they simply be killed the first time we fought something nasty? I'm kinda drifting back toward my previous Twilight idea, tweaked to be less subtle social master and more 'Stop hurting innocents right now or I will shatter your armies, cast down your house into ruin, and cause your name to be synonymies with shame for the next hundred years'.

Also since downtime did not occur allow me to ask a question. Is a flurry considered one action or multiple actions taken at once? Specifically if I use Fivefold-Bulwark Stance and perform a flurry of 3 attacks, do I get -0DV(Each attack reduced to -0dv from the Stance) or -2DV(-3 from three attacks, reduced by -1 from the Stance)?

Also, does the 'Multiple-Action' penalty apply to DV, or just the attack-roll?

The DV penalty from a Flurry is the highest penalty out of all the actions you perform. It counts as one Action, but not one action, if you get what I mean.

I... don't. In fact that contradicts what the book says. It says that each action adds its own defense penalty, and the final modification is the sum of them all. I just don't know if modifiers like Five-Bulwark Stance are applied to each individual action or to the sum.

    I bet it is.

What is our cast so far? Like, character style?

Papillon is a night cast Archer
I'm going to be a Twilight whom kicks ass with a quarterstaff, also something of a healer.
    Lonelyahava is Sonic the Porcupine.
Arcanis is going to be either a Martial artist diplomat or a Whirling dervish of swords.
Graycoin is a Sidereal Martial Artist.
Crovaxan is a night caste assassin that uses claws like Zhang He in DW5 or Sima Yi in DW6.

Suddenly I really want to roll something that melts face on but a whim, with the idea of returning to that one City, the one in the Scavanger lands that the Realm owns to burn it to the ground...

You could make a sorcerer with the intent to eventually get Solar Circle spells and cast Rain of Doom. That causes wood to burst into flame, metal to dissolve, and mortals to die horrible melting deaths. It would take awhile to get that powerful since you'd probably need to be essence 5 to have the motes required to cast the spell then make it around the city in less than an hour, not to mention the entire garrison pouring out of the city to kill you.

Well, obviously it would take a while to get that powerful. And then, maybe I'll move onto the Blessed Isle itself.... Hehe... hehehe..... hahahahahahahaha......
