Tax Return

I don't even remember filing this year. I think my wife did it while I was at work. I checked my bank account this morning to find 2,898 United States FunBucks had been deposited last night.

I....I don't know what to do now.

And we're still expecting that 1,200 from Unkey Bush in May.

I'm gonna buy some expensive booze tonight. After I pay off my credit card. And get my jeep fixed. Dammit this isn't good at all.

What will you fellows do with your returns?

I got my return like a month ago....

A few people here know of the ridiculous profit I turned from it.

The gov. always finds ways to rape me. Last year I was advised by an offical IRS employee that I should file as head of household when I get a new job as that would net me the most money back ON MY RETURN. So I did. Long story short, I ended up owing almost 1000. When I asked why I was told because I filed head of house hold. . . duhhh. As I paid that off at my local tax office here in town, the guy that was helping me told me that I should just have them hold all they can from my check for taxes plus an additional ten dollars just in case, so again, I did that thinking I was going to get a rocking return. Nope, two hundred dollars. Two hundred dollars.

    Attending college in state, wise-ass.

And I have a job during the summer, don't make enough to have to pay taxes on it, and any refund I would get would be less than what my parents get by claiming me as a dependant.

If you're getting a 3k return you are doing something wrong with your deductions. Just saying.

Stop giving the government a free loan of your cash.

Nope. Military people get nice deductions. Also married filing jointly is an even bigger deduction. Couple in I pay in way more than I should on purpose (by about 20 dollars a month, so not way more, but still) and you get a nice return.

No, your weekly deductions. Like how you set up your W2.

Basically, a tax return is money you gave to the government to hold on for you with no interest that you didn't need to give them. It's a free loan to them and they give it back to you at the end of the year without paying you extra for it.

I set things up to get as close to 0 dollars back as possible. Hell, I'd rather pay in 50 bucks then let them hold my money all year.

To each his own, I guess. Even if it is a "losing" investment on my part in that I don't get interest, it would be ill spent, and having a nice chunk fly at me in the middle of the year is a pretty good incentive.

Right now I have minimal expenses, so I let them hold everything. End of the (fiscal) year, I end up getting a check to go play with.

As opposed to if I kept the money all year long, and blew it bit by bit on random crap.
