The ending was horrible, what are you talking about?
You fight a horribly cliché'd boss and then you get one of two different generic endings. Both of which suck.
Rest of the game was pretty neat though
it was a game. It was a bit naff fighting that super dude. But I considered the emotional core of the ending to be the beating to death of Ryan. There is so much other material to draw on in the physical world, particularly the story of the logs, the story of the city, that I didnt really care about the main characters story honestly, so the ending didnt bother me as much as it seems to have bothered other people. I guess I was already sold on the world, satisfied with the myriad of stories that had been presented and resolved throughout the game. But i agree, the super sayen stuff was pretty off.
A lot of games seem to suffer from this tho, the world is so compelling, and the environmental story, the stuff you infer and glean from what you see and hear, is often more interesting than the narrative. Pretty much all games fall victim to this, so I was slightly disappointed when Bioshock did too. But there was just so much else to draw from and enjoy, it didnt bother me. I suppose I was already 'fulfilled' by the end.
The only way this game can work as a movie is if they are really good with the casting of Jack.
Jack has basically zero character in the game. He's a silent protaganist for the most part. But, if they were to follow the "mysterious man in plane crash finds failed utopian society" story of the game then the audience is going to spend the majority of the running time with Jack.
Which means the guy who plays Jack has to have the ability to hold the audience's attention for that time. I liked I Am Legend and I think part of the reason it worked as a film is because of Will Smith.

I think a proper casting of Ryan is most important.
I always thought the main character of Bioshock was the city itself. As long as they convey that well I'll enjoy it. Of course I hope for good casting and dialog, but that kind of goes without saying. I always found the story of the city more engaging than the story of your character, who was essentially just a camera lense to look through.
I don't want them restricted to the Jack storyline, a lot of the damage to Silent Hills last half was focusing too much on everyones stories and motivations. I hope they let the strong imagery, the city itself, tell the bulk of the story.
Just get the dude who did Ryan in the video game to be the dude in the movie, unless he looks retarded. Cause Bioshock's story, look, and voice acting were what made it so fucking awesome. I hope the director just copies the video game.
It's not like Doom or Street fighter where they have to make up a story, they got a story. The video game was the story

In the game, Jack was merely the vehicle used to explore the setting and reveal the background of Rapture. As far as casting priority goes, Jack would be pretty far down the list.

Jack can't just be some douche bag with no lines though. That's the thing; the story isn't being told from his point of view. It's being told, in a film, from a semi-passive, omnitient sort of view point.

I think a movie that doesn't focus on Jack, but instead on the characters who are manipulating and controlling him, would be pretty interesting. So we're not realy following Jack's undersea adventure, instead we're looking at the political tension between Ryan and Atlas and what all the other characters were up to while Jack is exploring rapture.

And, well
So I'll remain cautiously optimistic. Bioshock fucking rules

Ryan's a lot of speeches and then one single appearance.
You just need someone who is charismatic and doesn't mind chewing some scenery.
The entire movie would have to be carried by whoever plays Jack.

I dunno. I hope its good. Eh.

Dr. Tennenbaum = Paris Hilton
I smell an oscar
i want you to get herpes
"Welcome ta Rapchah!"
Oh hell no you did not just shoot that harpoon shit at me!
Jack - Chris Evans
Atlas - Kevin Spacey
Tenenbaum - Cate Blanchett
Cast needs more ethnic diversity
Tenenbaum is now black... and german. And she's a whole lot of sassy woman.
We'll have her played by Beyonce and she can do a music video for the official soundtrack that will play over the end credits.
can kevin spacey do a charming accent
that was part of atlas' appeal
you know hollywood so well it hurts me
You know it is a glorious idea
No. No I don't think that would work.
Walt Disney as Andrew Ryan?
Some hot froy-line for Dr. Tenenbaum.
... Kevin Spacey for Sander Cohen.
Eugene Levy as Jack.
WAIT....
GENE WILDER AS RYAN. YES. INDEED.
Considering the game was carried by everyone other than Jack, I'm not really seeing this.
Rosie is the name of a big daddy
