If you want quality headphones, go Sennheiser. 'Sennheiser' is synonym of 'quality sound'.

I am using HD 515 ones myself, and they indeed are aural sex. While the professional crowd says that 280's sound better (I myself couldn't realy hear the difference, but then again didn't spend that long with them), 515's are amazingly comfortable. First off, they are light, so light you can sometimes even forget you have them on. Second, not touching the ear at all. And where they do touch your head it's soft fabric not some leather/plastic crap that makes you sweat where it touches you.

Gawd no, fuck bose. They're high quality but you pay entirely too much for what you get. When it comes to headphones there are really only two names. Sennheiser and Grado. You can get similar quality in different brands, but not without paying considerably more.

Overall, Grado has the best sound quality, but word is they're a lot more uncomfortable than Sennheiser. Sennheiser is what I've got. A pair of HD 555. They're open air, not noise canceling, but if you're going for sound quality then open air is better than noise-canceling.

That being said if you're really set on noise-canceling, you can't go wrong with Sennheiser. Just as a recommendation though, buy your set from ebay. There are some great sellers of the brand with great reps and they're all like 30 to 60 bucks cheaper than retail, including shipping costs.

With Seinnheiser you're also paying for the name especially for their less pricey stuff.

You want some quality for every penny you're spending, go with Audio Technica.

in-ear closed earphones are the way to go

even cheap-o's like the creative (they're like ~$20) are amazing compared to over the hear headphones of any type. With the silicone earbuds they're comfortable too, nothing like the old gameboy earphones.

I had been looking at a pair of Sennheiser Head Phones because the ones I currently have suck balls. 20 dollar sony ones. I mean, they are all right but uncomfortable as fuck.

How small/large are you ears Tofu? Do the 212s fit comfortably for a long time while providing some bumpin sounds?

i have these sennheiser in ear, earphones. they're the best pair of earphones i've ever had. they cancel all outside noise and i don't even need to have my music that loud cause of it.

i also have a sennheiser headset which is really good quality, and i'm pretty sure there's no static when i talk.

I have normal sized ears I think, they fit very comfortably, the only thing is that sometimes they move around a little, not sure if it was because I was walking intense as a motherfucker or not, but there's that. The sound quality is pretty good, definitely better than my old shitty ones.

Man I just don't like shoving things in my ear, all the ones I've tried haven't been comfortable, they don't stay in at all

It's annoying because I listen to my iPod when I workout/run, and having to stop to slap the fuckers back in got real annoying. That's what I get for using shitty ones though I guess

i hate myself because i am an audiophile despite having fucked up ears with infections and wax problems ugh what the fuck god

i have these speakers for my computer:

    83_mx5021.jpg

They are THX certified, which isn't saying much I know, but they're good. Unless something has changed while I was out of the loop, these and the 2.1 Klipschs are the best 2.1 desktop sets. Though, I probably wouldn't mind switching them out to a pair of good m-audio monitors sometime in the future.

    I also have this:

    HD202_2-ded3538161dbbdce18f2af286ef07bda.jpg

    But don't use them anymore.

    These:

    203443275.jpg

I bought as portable headphones but I guess they got a bit too funky looking. They sound VERY nice though, despite only costing like 40 dollars. Impressive drivers from Panasonic. I use them with my macbook now.

I can't use IEMs, so I've been looking for good portable cans for my ipod, and i decided that when my economy sim check comes I'm gonna fancy out and buy a pair of these:

    es7-wipod.jpg

Audio Technica ATH-ES7. Audiocubes has them for 170 but Amazon has them for about 120. They are really nice.

there's a new version of the ES7's called the ESW9, it's like three times more expensive

    athesw9dvgafh4.jpg

rosewood cups, lambskin all around, and they are supposed to sound really freaking good. way out of my price range though.

but the pads are supposed to be interchangeable so if they ever sell replacement parts for the ESW9 and the lambskin pads aren't too expensive, I'll pick them up.

most of grado's "low-end" headphones look like that, where the only difference is the little button that says their model. then you step up and have the ones with metal all over. and ones with wood all over.

those ones in particular (HF-1's) are the best ever
because they made less than 500 of them, and they look like the cheap ones but they have sexy mahogany inside them and they sound like musical sex
    and i have a set :D

I use in-ears for portable. Westone UM-1. I had the UM2s for a bit but they are far to sensitive and I didn't want to shell out for the amp that would take away the background hiss I was getting.

Westone Comply tips are also hells of comfortable.
