    This is (presumably) Super Robot Taisen/Wars based, so I'm pretty sure everyone'll be a pilot, not an actual robot(sorry, Thursday).

    Mech and robot are pretty much interchangable as terms

    It depends on the setting and sometimes just how consistent the authors are feeling

    Most people and franchises tend towards using "mech" for a pilotable humanoid but I'm one of the people who uses it to apply to any mechanised construct, even regular robots
