Thats the great thing about pedophiles, they are always thinking of the children. Glad to see Australia is following their example.

Australia, we are thinking like pedophiles, but don't worry its for the children.

That gameplay video has me quite excited for Fallout 3. A Raider camp that you can just stroll into and start killing Raiders, looting their stuff and delving into the underground to see what they've got for the stealing? As long as it's not $110.00 or something, this is pretty much a first day purchase for me. Even if morphine becomes Pain Away. :P

It's true. When I have children I'm going to hire a pedophile babysitter. You can't trust anyone these days, but with a pedophile you at least know that he/she will keep be keeping a very close eye on your kids. And if he tries anything funny, well kids are growing up faster and faster these days, they're going to have to learn about that stuff eventually. I consider it sex education.

Well at least you won't have to have the birds and bees talk with your children that way.

    Logic at its best.

Hmmm, will the Austards result in New Zealand getting the edited version? I'm moving back to NZ from the UK at the end of the year... Maybe I'll just buy the UK version.

It is sarcastic, but the "lets think of the children" thing has definitely gone to far. You know who should be thinking of the children? Their parents, when they pay attention to ratings and play video games with their children.

If I was kidnapped, woke up in a lab, told they were going to replace my vocal cords with those of Tony Jay, and lock me in a sound booth until the day I die I would look those bastards right in the eye and say "Alright you sons of bitches lets do this. This one is for the children."

The point of an adult rated game is so that you dont have to think of the children... The whole thing is stupid. Its like making a porn film and then asking the 'actors' to tone down the language because you never know who will see your movie.

Well, I don't think you'll get much if any disagreement regarding parental responsibility in buying games for their children. What got me is that it was the usage of a real drug that was the clincher, not so much the plethora of fake drugs already present. Besides, what would you rather do if injured? Take some morphine to dull the pain, or pop a Psycho inhaler so that the pain becomes the fuel for your horrific, bloody vengeance?

Morphine is going to be bloody vendor trash if you ask me.

I complained to Gamestop about not getting my preorder goodies, and they gave me a poster and soundtrack. Hooray. The poster looks nice. I will probably replace my tiny little Raving Rabbids poster with it.

The soundtrack, however, hasn't done anything to sell me on the game (even though I already preordered, so they don't really need to sell me). The period pieces they chose (the first 3 tracks) are superb. They fit the mood and atmosphere of what I expect Fallout to be, which, I understand, is different for all of us. Anyway, the Main Title is disappointing. It sounds like really generic "epic journey" music. It reminds me a lot of the music from Lord of the Rings and Oblivion. It all sounds kind of same-y.

Well if worst comes to worst I'll just mod in the music from the first two games, does anyone know how the music tracks were stored in Oblivion? If it's not a simple swap then hopefully somebody will release a mod to allow it.

Because I really did like the background tracks for the first two games. They were usually more like "ambient" tracks than actual in-game music.

The main title is more epic than usual, but it dosen't sound anything like Oblivion or Lord of the Rings.

Oblivion's music was decent. Morrowind's remains some of my favorite music from a game ever, and just damn good, game or not. Is What'shisname doing the Fallout 3 score?

It sounded like Lord of the Rings.

It sounded more "Dark Western" than "Fantasy Epic" to me. Which is good, because the post-apocalyptic and western genres share a lot of elements.

No, Jeremy Soule is not involved in the score, instead it's the guy who did the score for Crysis and some other games.

I'm listening to it right now and I completely disagree. The horns and drums lend themselves way more to "fantasy epic" than "dark western." Notice that the drums almost follow a marching cadence. I don't hate the music, but it isn't what I want to hear when I boot up a Fallout game.

Jeremy Soule is seventeen kinds of awesome, but by the descriptions people are posting I'm sure Othermusicguy will do a fine job, too.

Ah, but see, you can't. It has such a negative stigma around it, much like NC-17, that it equals immediate retail death for any AO game.

Also all other AO games are things like Sexy Beach and hentai games.

Finally, can you get Fallout to run on Vista?

This. AO games don't sell primarily because retailers won't stock 'em. It's annoying because M always feels like not quite rated R, although this is becoming less and less the case as time goes on (we've had the gore for some time now, language and nudity is finally getting to the point where you can have R-rated levels and still get an M rating).

You have to remember that most retailers don't stock porn either, and you have to put near-pornographic stuff in your game to get an AO rating.

It comes with extra stuff like wallpapers and walkthroughs, if that helps. I mean, it might work with Vista, but I have no idea personally as I haven't yet taken the plunge.

Although, one of the mod downloads says "engine tweaks for xp/2000/vista", which is positive.

You guys are forgetting something else about AO.

It shrinks the available market. If your game is M more people will be able to buy it and then sales will still increase, resulting in more money. So, AO games, never going to work. Ever. Be happy that you can stick dynamite onto children.

1 year. However, little Jimmy's parents see that AO sticker and that sale is lost. Repeat that 500,000 times. With an M game, Timmy's parents think, "Oh, he's mature" and buy it. Or don't pay attention. Depends. AO sticker is a giant NO light, though.
