started on expert, raced through to the last song
and hit a wall because fuck that song
every other song in the game was easy, except that fukcing green grass and high tides bullshit

Thank god I'm not the only one

I have beaten expert mode on Guitar Heroes 1 through 3, but I just cannot be bothered practising long enough to beat that ridiculous solo in Green Grass & High Tides

I don't mind it as much on drums because it's easier to just get into the rhythm

I need to get back to playing drums to see if I can get past the wall I hit on Expert, I can't remember which song it was

GG&HT is not a bigger brick wall than raining blood (and maybe the fight against lou)

the two freebirdesque sequences aren't that hard

Raining Blood wasn't a brick wall for me at all, and the fight against Lou took me quite a few tries but not frustratingly so

I guess I'm better at the tricky solos than I am at an endurance test like GG&HT

Plus, after 3 guitar hero games I'm kind of getting sick of playing plastic guitar, so I haven't bothered to put the time in to get the fingering down on those sequences.

But then, so is Beatmania IIDX on 7key difficulty.

I've seen videos on YouTube and apparently to get past songs after a certain difficulty you have to play with BOTH HANDS and use a single pinky finger to work the scratch pad.

So yeah, I've pretty much given up on getting better at beatmania.

    Now, Rock Band...

That's a game I'll always be striving to improve myself on.

I can play the guitar rather competently, but really, it's all about the drums for me.

I'm up to roughly Level 7 on Beatmania now. I get a little better each time I play it.

The best advice I can think of is don't rely on Beatmania US. There's little to no practice ground between the easy songs and the stupid ones. Import 10th or 13th.

They also have the best song lists in the entire series.

    Q. Will I buy next week's Rock Band DLC?

    A. Yes, because it is Devo.

That song is indeed hard, but I did finally manage to five star it while at a friend's place the other day. I felt like a god when the score screen came up after the song was done. :D

I've got a lot of games I want to play before I drop ~$90 (need a swap magic too, right?) on a PS2 rhythm game...

You can get get 10th for $40 if you shop around, and Distorted for maybe $50. (Bemanistyle's marketplace sells them for that price on the regular.)

And yeah, you'd need a swap magic kit, which shouldn't run more than $10. It's worth it for the good Beatmania styles. Comparing US to 10th is like Mario Bros. compared to Galaxy.

Someone finally beat me, on Cliffs of Dover.

So far they've won the grand prize, a 4gb MP3 player, unless others come in to join him in the winners draw. I'm not sure what the minor prizes are yet but apparently there's some mini MP3 players and some other junk.

I'm getting paid to play GH3 at work, this is just damn awesome.

DP: someone's selling IIDX 5th Style at Bemanistyle for $25, if the songlist is your cup of tea.

    http://www.bemanistyle.com/gameinfo/game.php?section=songlist&game_id=78

It's got .59, Rislim, Abyss, and In My Eyes, among some other good tracks. Not a bad starter.

I've never actually really played this game. Do i want to gamefly it for PS2 or PSP? Not I don't have the A/V out psp.

  • RialeRiale Registered User
Well rhythm game wise it's not the most amazing thing ever, though it is a pretty big challenge in master modem and stuff. The gameplay is fairly innovative. I would check it out, if only for the wacky plot and soundtrack (at the very least I suggest you download the soundtrack somewhere).

And being a fan of Para Para, you'll love the stage 2 song.

I like the guy in the Dance Maniax video when he runs over to the other guy and he is just standing there arms folded unimpressed.

How does that game even work?

    sig1.jpg
  • cj iwakuracj iwakura The Rhythm Rogue Coral Springs, FLRegistered User regular
I think it's basically like Para Para, only with a lot more motion sensors involved.

  • MonkeyfeetMonkeyfeet Registered User regular
CJ you may know the answer to this but I may be to obscure.

I saw this game a while back. I am quite sure it was Pump it Up as it had the the extra side arrows and everything.

I am trying to find this one song and all I know about it was that the music video looked like it was drawn with a boy in a field with a lot of green and blue color and he might have been flying a kite?

That would be Zzanga by Kim Gun Mo, I think.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6xq6uBrgPM

From the Pump It Up Premiere 2. It hasn't been in a mix in years.

Or that could be Till The End of Time.

Did the video have a broom in it?

  • PikaPuffPikaPuff Registered User regular
Dance Maniax is two detal drum shaped things. They're motion sensors up and down. So yeah, like parapara, but you're moving your hands over and under the sensors. Parapara has 5 arrows and dance maniax has four; 8 if you play double mode.

I wasn't asking if I should rent Gitaroo Man. I wanted to know which version to rent, the ps2 or psp one. I think I'll go ps2, since i don't want to play it on a tiny screen

I have both, and in my opinion the PSP version actually controls better. Either way you get a good game, although for some reason they used a translated version of a song in the PSP game where the original was in Japanese. It's not worse, but I was surprised when I heard it.

so I just downloaded audiosurf after playing it on my friends' computers a few times.

I could seriously play this forever. hell, I spend a while just listening to music absent mindedly now I can tie it to something.

ori's modding is stupid and arbitrary and based on no actual rule system but rather wind patterns and astrology.
