I just load up on candy and knick-knacks for like $6 whenever I end up in a dollar store.
That's just it. I detest most dollar stores.
But the official 99c Only stores are the biggety motherfuckin' bomb. They have SO MUCH WEIRD SHIT. Even real food. Not just off-brand Tortilla Bean Crisps made in Thailand or something, but honest to goodness groceries.
Best part? If you see something there and you want to check it out? YOU CAN! IT'S A DOLLAR! HA HA HA!
Several times I've loaded a full cart of weird shit there. The most I've ever spent was $48 in one go.
Man I love any shop with a ridiculously low limit on prices (they tend to be £2, £1 or 99p here). They always have the most excellent and ridiculous shit, and you cannot beat them for buying shampoo etc, cos they have largely the same brands as regular shops, just really cheap and often from some bizarre foreign land. I love them for christmas shopping for small children etc. as well. Poorly constructed toys are ideal for small kids
But they sell Coke made in Mexico here for a $1!
I tell you now, son, getcher ass to a 99c only store. Worlds apart from those other places. Whereas other dollar stores have crappy crap made in crappy countries, 99c Only stores are outlets for things that have been remaindered. Products that didn't sell too well. They had the Mountain Dew Orange Halo Xtremo Bullshit flavor or what have you - 2 for 99c. Weird frozen Pancake Sausage and Egg sandwiches - 2 for 99c. Lunch meats, produce, and a whole slew of bizarre canned goods.
Yes, you have to sometimes check expiration dates, but usually it's just regular groceries that didn't sell well at regular stores or had packaging flaws. Redken shampoo and conditioner for 99c because the factory goofed and printed the label upside down. Lever 2000 body wash for 99c because some idiot accidentally spray-painted too close to a pallet of them and got a few orange dots on the bottles. Things like that.
I, too, had written off dollar stores. Then I found these places. Now I hit the 99c only store first to pick up anything I need that THEY carry, and then the regular grocery store for the rest. It's saved me about a hundred dollars a month, I tell you what.
mexican coke is made with real sugar still and its goddamn delicious as fuck
