Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

I'm worse than a theater major...

I've taken years of improv training.

It's a real shame that 95% of improv in the world is horrible. I'd say unless you're seeing something at Improv Olympic in Chicago or Upright Citizen's Brigade in New York, you're in for rough waters... and even then it can be touchy.

I was in drama in high school, but I was more interested in practical effects and makeup than the acting part of it. Me and another kid did Julius Caesars death scene in 6th grade. I made this cardboard chest piece with a sandwich bag filled with fake blood taped to it and he wore a makeshift toga over it. A bunch of kids jumped up from their seats and mimed stabbing him with plastic knives. The kid playing Caesar popped the bag with a couple of needles he had hidden. It was pretty cool watching the crowd move away and seeing a dead Caesar on the ground covered in red Karo syrup.

It depends what kind of forms they do
Most improv games are rather tedious after a while
The Groundlings does a long form improv that is usually quite good

Pac Man's character is difficult to explain even to the Japanese -- he is an innocent character. He hasn't been educated to discern between good and evil. He acts more like a small child than a grown-up person. Think of him as a child learning in the course of his daily activities. If someone tells him guns are evil, he would be the type to rush out and eat guns. But he would most probably eat any gun, even the pistols of policemen who need them.

There's a huge difference between being pretentious and just being right because you're educated.
Being a theater major you probably wouldn't know that difference.

Have fun wasting your college experience with super easy classes because you and your ilk are just too stupid to apply yourselves to anything serious. And know full well that a kid pulled off the street will probably do a better job in film than you ever could (because I could probably count on one hand the amount of people who major in theatre with an actual interest in theatre)
