the people they DO hire to do QC and QA let so many little things slip by because they shrug and go "I gets paid, what do I care if that cap's not screwed on tight or that fabric is clearly snagged"
they do not strive for perfection here because they KNOW customers in this country a) don't pay any attention to detail, b) believe that if you are a big reputable company that YOU CAN DO NO WRONG, and c) don't fucking question shit because it's not worth the energy to do so
(for those who do not know the Chinese milk thing is that several mg of a banned, illegal chemical was added to the milk to boost how much protein the milk gives in tests so they could advertise as such; the chemical doesn't fuck you up if you're an adult, but it has done a number on a bunch of infants)
ergo when shit like this happens everyone's all like HOW COULD THE GOVERNMENT LET THIS HAPPEN and HOW COULD THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF THIS COMPANY LET THIS HAPPEN
and the government stomps all over the company being all WE DEREGULATED THE INDUSTRY SO THAT YOU COULD HAVE A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY US even though the people who do QC for the industry in the first (i.e., the FDA of China) are a government-run agency
the government would rather be all "we got betrayed" and admit to "not knowing what was going on" instead of being all "yeah this was our fault"

I'm assuming you're using decent tea and 10 min is far too long for most teas
3-5 min is more typical
