I want to say it is the end of an era, but this doesn't mean he is going to shut up at all. I think that book deal mentioned above is the likely next step. God forbid it becomes a "NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER," but I see that on like every Goddamn book so it must not mean much.
Now he's free from the expectations of the bar. He can be a total dick and not have to operate within certain parameters. Of course, he's still knowledgeable (hehe), so he could always find some other attorney to take his case(s). Just because he can't argue it himself doesn't mean that someone else can't do it for him. Frankly, they'd probably do a better job.
No (smart) attorney is going to take advice and prosecute cases brought to him by another ex-attorney who was disbarred because of unethical conduct and abuse of the legal system.
I'm not so sure about this, despite it being moot since there are necessarily more attorneys overall than (smart) attorneys.
If you were representing JT in some ridiculous scenario, wouldnt you still get paid?

Not to generalize against lawyers, because I certainly don't have anything against them, but there's always someone out there willing to take a case. I do think that the likelihood of any Jack Thompson media storms shrink as time goes on. The unethical conduct thing though, I'd say that anyone could just tell him "Great idea Jack, now just sit down and STFU while a smart lawyer handles this."
Now if we could go back and time and get rid of Tipper Gore and Co. we'd be :^::^::^::^:
My whole feeling on JT was that he fought certain cases to get the attention of a certain demographic and call himself some sort of 'holy warrior' and while I don't doubt his beliefs were false, he was looking for fame and fortune. I'm not going to name names but there is a certain group of people who can EASILY be swayed because they aren't knowledgeable on most things outside of their home.
Gamers are pretty vocal though. They tore right through him. I wouldn't wish this on a person, to lose a job because that's pretty big, but his blatant lies and scare tactics are uncalled for. The sad part is people believed him.
Now that he's gone, someone more professional is going to step up to bat and hit a homer for those anti-game nazis.
At least when JT was around he was entertaining enough and stupid enough to divert attention away from how videogames are pure fucking evil.
This is such nonsense.
You make it sound as if he held some kind of position that couldn't be filled until he was gone. If there was another attorney out there who wanted to take on the gaming industry, they could have done so whether JT was disbarred or not. It's not like lawyers take turns fighting for something.
"Ok, I get abortion for the next 6 months."
"Aww, man, I wanted abortion!"
"Next time, man, next time."
The media has a spotlight effect which amplifies certain issues and makes others less noticable. If you have a JT story and a story about how X lawyer wins a case against videogame Y, then you're more apt to run the JT story because of how nutty the guy is.

There are more idiots where JT came from.
I'm lookin at you, Florida.
Stop looking at me! Go stare at Ohio or something, you're fucking creeping me out.
Didn't we stop caring about this man like a year ago? Why is every tiny bit of news thread worthy, or even worthy of my time thinking about this abhorrent excuse for a man
hey thanks for being the guy who always has to make one of these posts in a JT thread, we appreciate your support of discussion forums
I don't understand why someone would want to perpetuate their own complaints. Seems kinda silly. One might go as far as to say stupid.

Yes...assuming that Mr. Thompson's assets aren't whacked by that $43K fine. But failing that, imagine if you actually won something. You'd get top billin' at whatever firm you were working. Risky, but the payoff would be really large for a budding lawyers' career.
I'll admit this board has gone post-happy on Jack Thompson's every bowel movement, but being permanently disbarred is pretty goddamn big news. (Usually you just get disbarred for a limited amount of time, but this dude is one of the few that went the extra mile to get permanently thrown out.)
Which is why we cunningly put his name in the thread title, so those uninterested can avoid it. It's a complex system, I know, but it works most of the time.

He may or may not be a media gadfly from here on in, but he's incredibly easy to discredit any time he pops up from here on in- "You got disbarred for being a loony".
Someone better may pop up, and if so I welcome it, because the next guy might actually be reasonable and able to be negotiated with.

I have a new soccer blog The Minnow Tank. Reading it psychically kicks Sepp Blatter in the bean bag.

Everyone has a right to a defense. And most defense lawyers are paid by the hour. It's not risky at all.

Why is this thread not EXPLODING in jubilation?
Man, this is like an early damn Christmas! All our infinite frustrations, vindicated!
Yeah, yeah, free from the Bar. The fact is that he is now and always will be a former lawyer DISBARRED FOR INSANE BEHAVIOR.
This is...beautiful.
Damn people, woop it up a little!

Or maybe praise Kalas. He's kinda like Jesus.
It should be noted that an argument is not automatically invalidated because of Godwin's Law.

What should be invalidated is anything anyone who calls Godwin's Law in a thread says.
That was fun times back in the day. I mean seriously, you had a hand in this.
How many people can say they helped a man go insane and lose his job!
Still, actual disbarment? yay!
