Simpson. O.J. Simpson. He was on trial for armed robbery...
Posts
I don't think he killed his wife either.
I roll with the lone gunman theory.
I find it funny that the "if" was in tiny, TINY type on the cover.
If I DID IT by OJ Simpson
there was a thread about this too
(t: goatmon for thread title)
Well you know he didn't make any money off of that right?
He decided it was a bad idea after it was ghostwritten and it was put on hold by the publisher. Then the family of his dead wife bought the rights and had it published to collect the profits.
The funny thing is the day it was published was also the day that Simpson committed the robberies in Vegas.

I love you for this
something about reading the opinions of a bunch of white people on a black guy is unsettling to me
Because you are so racist.
Many people condemn OJ, you know, because he murdered people and was an abusive husband. Being black might not have anything to do with it.
it doesn't have anything to do with it
except it always will

Nah, I'm pretty sure that, for example, my opinion of him has a lot to do with the fact that he's a murderer and pretty much nothing whatsoever to do with the color of his skin.
a lot of people might say that, but I don't think it's true for most of the people who do
I think it has to do with that his trial took over TV for a fucking year. Everyone was following it, to some extent. No matter how you feel about other alleged murderers who've appeared in the media (Like Robert Blake) nobody got the spotlight for it quite like O.J. did, and the fact that he walked made him all the more infamous for it.
ZING!
On what do you base this? He was popular and generally well-liked beforehand, even though his blackness was widely known.
But here's another layer
I would say the reason the story was so saturated over the news
More so then the Blake or Spector trials
Was because of the racial angle of the story
A black celebrity killing his white ex-wife was what made it so popular a story

the prosecution did a terrible job
You might just be onto something.
Adding to that, keep in mind that he was a pretty likeable guy before all that happened.
If there's anything the media likes more than a celebrity fuck-up, it's a widely-known-and-loved-celebrity fuck-up.
Partially, though. The fact that the defense wanted to use lots of clips of cops dropping the N-bomb is evidence, to me, that they were using racism as part of their case.
Wait, Juice was black?

Who isn't a loveable murderer though?
Seriously, those inmates on deathrow get love letters from unstable chicks all the time
Dahmer?
OJ Simpson in a prank show?
Hilarious!

Fuck you Lincoln.
All the pranks involve foot-long hunting knives and black gloves.
Really, page FOUR and this is just appearing now? Come on.
I'm confused?
Or is this one of those, America is rascist because there are more black people in jail than white people things? Up here they had the same thing but it was natives.
So what? Should we just stop "arresting them for crimes they commit then"?
the disparity in racial distribution among inmates has been discussed for decades
and although it's erroneous to assume that a higher percentage of black men in prison means our courts are racist, it's also erroneous to assume from that same information that they just commit more crimes
there was actually a really good article in a recent SciAm about a study where they input data on inmates that were on death row, including whether or not they actually got the death penalty
then they had the program make predictions when they didn't feed that data point in, and it was able to determine with I think about 80-90% accuracy who would be put to death
the biggest determining factor was found to not be race in and of itself, but education
the more educated someone was, the more likely they would be successful appealing their death sentence
