Any way, Twilight Princess and Okami are extremely good action-adventure games. Mario Galaxy is basically the best 3d platformer ever (in my opinion). No More Heroes is basically a solid beat 'em up with a crazy story and unique look. And a lot of cool looking games are coming out in the future (Monster Hunter 3, No More Heroes 2, etc.).

I'd say it's worth owning. Then again, my Wii isn't collecting dust (that doesn't count).

Edit - what the hell is old school gameplay?

I like my Wii.

It is pretty fun. So is my 360.

I find it amusing that people are still calling the Wii the "niche console," or that "a majority of people are tired of their Wii."

Because, well, that's not what sales numbers are telling me, is all.

If you'll excuse me, I have to go stick a paint blob to walls, and prepare to play with more sticky balls on Monday.

The Wii is the exclusive home of sticky ball related games.

Well, let's see. We're almost to page 5, and the thread has essentially runs it course.

-Someone asks if a Wii is a good idea
-Someone says it is
-Someone says it isn't
-THEN someone says it isn't, but while coming off as unnecessarily bitter about it
-Then someone else responds and calls them on it
-Then someone calls that person a fanboy
-Then someone calls that person stupid/retarded, implies they only like all the shooting games and such on the 360
-Then I shut down the computer, sit on my couch, and wonder why I even come into these threads

I will say this about the Wii. The major Mario Sports titles have just not been as good this generation. I don't know why but I will always prefer the GC sports titles over the Wii ones.

I think Strikers is the only one I've enjoyed more on the Wii. I agree with you otherwise.

Strikers is the best of them on the Wii but I still preferred GC.

The SNES is perhaps the best console of all time, simply for the games it provided. It gave me the game that introduced me to RPGs (Earthbound) and many, many hours of fun.

The NES was pretty cool, but I don't think we'll ever see a console as good as the SNES again.

The SNES had a much bigger color palette and better sound, the Genesis was able to process stuff faster. Thus Sonic could run at lightning speed, while SNES had annoying slowdown in some of its space shooters; that's also why Madden and the other EA sports games did better on the Genesis.

I've been playing a lot of Genesis games recently, and it really strikes me how ugly a lot of them are compared to what I remember. The SNES games still hold up pretty much the way I remember them, but the previously aforemantioned Genesis version of MK1, which I fucking loved back in the day, is absolutely hideous to look at.

The absolutely worst thing about the Wii is that the price for the games never seems to go down, like, ever. There are game, many even sort of niche titles really, which I'm waiting for to become cheaper because I refuse to pay full price for them, but nope, still the same price tag, even more then a year after release.

Secret of Mana just went up on the Wii Virtual Console today. If you don't have a Wii already, that should be a big incentive by itself.
