Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

Nobody steps on a [chat] in my town!

I was a mod once for a forum. Never again.

The amount of drama and power-tripping that occurs is remarkable. It's an online forum, you aren't managing a small business or a government office, grow up.

What kind of forum was it? I was a mod for a chainmail forum for about six months before I just couldn't do it anymore. Which is why I ask Elki how he became one as he seems disturbingly sane.

Anyway. I'm sure that streaming internet to your TV in high quality would be a subscription service with advertisements, or something. Because I really doubt anyone would let you watch for free, on your TV, in high quality, whenever you want. Doing that without the proper license is called piracy.

No, I get it. But I can currently watch a limited range of shows on sites like hulu for free, on my computer, in medium quality, whenever I want. I would like this for my TV, that's all.

A forum for my alma mater. Mainly the talk was about football, so I'd have to deal with 900 retards from other schools trolling our boards all day.

I think I ever became a mod here, or anywhere else, the first thing I'd do is change my name to...

Edit: Fine! I'll change my name to Fred Williamson and hopefully one person on the interwebs would know the joke!

That sounds like fun. I'd have to deal mostly with technical knit-picking ("that person said it's this ID but it has to be that 'cause that weave just isn't possible with that AR..." "well have you considered that you're just inept?" "Waaaaah" *facepalm*) and drama from their chat area spilling over. It got to the point where political chat threads weren't allowed as people would start trolling non-chat threads in order to screw with people who didn't agree with them politically. So much aggravation.

"Failure to accurately draw a horse" is my favorite.

I think an infraction for no points for lack of christmas spirit, or failure to accurately draw a horse, or being wrong about the best Hitman game is funny.

The voting on the ban thing, though, dumb. And if any of those infractions had points attached, dumb. I did like the time he took over a suck thread in D&D and made it the Tube appreciation thread. Amusing.

Proficient is a strong word. I largely bumble my way through it despite doing a PhD in what is increasingly looking like that field.

I'm having trouble seeing the electron exchange in basic alkene reactions. So the pi bond has four available electrons for reactants to om nom nom?

It was fun at first because you got to ban people in new and creative ways all the time. At one point we made a bunch of hidden subforums for each school where the forum theme was their mascot having sex with humans. Basically a bunch of backgrounds of beastiality porn. The really bad trolls got sent there.

After a while it got annoying because the jokes and ribbing between rival schools don't really change.

Doesn't that just encourage things like forum trolling and forum invasions?
