You know I really can't decide if I like Gogol Bordello or not

I bought Super Taranta! and I go back and forth between "This is really sweet" and "I think this might be too weird for my tastes"

I suppose I will just keep listening

I like Tribal Connection and American Wedding quite a bit, his voice is well suited for those songs

when he's not shouting or speaking another language he feels a bit...out of place

maybe I'm just not familiar with this kind of music, so I'm giving it the benefit of a doubt and listening to it until I make a decision

Now see what's strange is that I listen to the album once and it's pretty okay, but I listen to it right afterwards and it sounds better

maybe I don't always listen to it with the right state of mind

Some albums are just like that, you need to take the time to let yourself warm up to it.

It's weird because if I'm listening to it with a tongue-in-cheek state of mind it's a better album, even though the lyrics are pretty serious

unless I'm missing something, maybe they're just trying to funny

Zina-Marina has interesting lyrics about slavery

    uh well

the song's aren't really tongue in cheek

it's like traditional folk music, it has a serious core surrounded by something that makes people sing and dance and whatnot

also, the older albums have some amazing songs but Super Taranta is definitely the tightest music-wise

    just great compositions

Tribal Connection is the best song on this album, hands-down. I wish they did more of this kind of stuff.
