Tea Thread

We had a tea thread fairly recently but things move swiftly in SE++ and I could not find it to resurrect it.

For the first time in my life I am in personal possession of a rather nice kettle (with variable temperature so I can heat my water to the necessary temperature for either black or green teas, so I can pretend to be a tea-snob), a teapot with a tea cozy, and a wide selection of teas.

I'm back to drinking 4-6 cups a day and it is glorious.

So, SE++, what teas do you like to drink and how do you take them? Do you have any good ones to recommend?

I am accepting of all hot water beverages masquerading as teas here. None of this 'it's only really tea if it uses tea leaves' snobbery. We can discuss herbal brews, black, green and white teas, oolong; whatever you would like.

Mori and I received a large selection of sampler teas from adagio.com recently. I am enjoying in particular the green pekoe, ginger and peach black, valentine black (mm it smells of chocolate), honeybush orange and jasmine #12

Chamomile is a firm favourite, particularly chamomile and mango. That is my latest herbal addiction.

Ginger anything works really well to settle the stomach/stave off nausea, if you did not already know. Just chop up some fresh ginger and stick it in hot water.

Mint tea is also awesome. Best made with fresh mint, but you can also use dried mint or mint teabags.

I take all my tea as it is, now. Brits, I have given up the practice of putting milk in it.

tea.jpg

It is only a little kettle and a little teapot but it does very well for two people.

I think I drink something like 10 cups of tea a day. Usually it's terrible cheap shit.

But I do enjoy Earl Grey and green tea is friggin' wonderful. Barley tea is another favourite.

Sometimes teas smell good, AND taste good, but the taste is not what you are expecting from the smell, which is a good thing because if it tasted as it smelled, it would be a little weird.

Peppermint tea falls into this category. As does the valentines tea, which smells chocolately and tastes delicious.

Herbal teas covers a broad range of teas

Which have you tried? A lot of herbal teabags found in stores tend to be a little overpowering and never taste quite as nice as they smell

I do love me some tea. However, I don't believe I've ever had a truly great tea, just the cheap stuff.

Earl grey with milk is the best.

I think I'll brew some now.

I really am liking the adagio teas, I would recommend them. I also hear teavana is pretty good but they are more expensive.

Bucketman: Yeah, apple/lemon teas I have tried with varied success, although I am surprised the peppermint was not good!

I used to be a breakfast tea drinker, but lately I've been more into green tea, peppermint tea, and on occasion, peppermint green tea

Sometimes I just like having hot water with lemon and a squeeze of honey

Also for those in the know, whats a good website for someone looking to expand their tea horizions beyond what they sell at the grocery store?
