Also, Skies of Arcadia was so good and if you didn't like all the random battles you could just open and close the disc tray whenever it started thinking about a random battle and it would skip the battle

What would I have done with all that extra time? Learn a valuable skill?
The greatest part of Skies of Arcadia is the awesome airship battles.
The only really memorable thing about the regular combat is that all the characters would keep swinging their weapons even when it wasn't their turn. It was purely aesthetic but it was a nice touch
1. Are these things supposed to be this noisy? I mean it sounds like it's stonewashing jeans inside that tray.
2. It worked fine for a while, but now the fucker keeps resetting itself for no apparent reason. The intervals at which it does so keep getting shorter and shorter. What gives?

Yeah it started doing that a few months ago so i put it away. I busted it out recently to finish SOA and it worked fine for a week or so. Then it started doing it again.

Does it always reset itself, or only when certain games are in there?

What is the frequency in which it resets?
edit: I don't think that matters though on how frequently it happens, it is probably the screws pressing down on the wires for the power button. this happens a lot with DC's, so open yours up an loosen the screws, that should do the trick, if it does not, then it is most likely demons.

man i'll give that a try, but which screws are we talking about, the ones that hold the casing together or screws on the inside?

You are going to have to open up your dreamcast, then find the wire that leads to the power button, then loosen the two screws that are holding that.
edit :The screws are probably causing the power to cut off, so just loosen them, and then see if that fixes it.
Saying you have a problem with your dreamcast is like jumping in a nasty lake and then saying your clothes are wet
It happens, you see
True as that may be, it's really annoying as fuck. You finish like 20 random battles to get to the next island and then *bam* Sega logo mocking you.
As an addendum to that, I totally understand, mine would freeze all the time when playing Skies, usually when I was moving toward a save point, hours of tedious bullshit in tow
Soul Calibur
Ecco the Dolphin
Skies of Arcadia
Typing of the Dead

But isn't that the main reason you would want one, I mean think of the possibilities.

Well that game was never meant to be played. it was an abomination of a game.

it is hilarious fun if you can find a copy
