    In actual fact if you're playing Vanilla you need to max out Standard to get to use the Assault Rifle. But I'd say it's worth it. Energy and Exotic weapons aren't terribly great, all told, though it might be worth a point in Exotic for the Shard. Definately put at least one point in Heavy for the Grenade Launcher...funny, I don't know what the other heavy weapons are.

    Completely forgettable, is what they are. And depending on your Strength the wrench is often better than the Shard.

    I've never played this game as anything other than a marine hacker.

    ...I've finished the game 4 times.

    There are fan mods and patches to make it work AND look better. Shop around.

    And here they are! You don't really need any of these for the game, and I think the first time around is best with nothing but the patches, but in case:

    Shit you need:
    Kolya's Tool - Patches everything up
    Modmanager - Allows quick and easy activation/deactivation of mods.

    The gameplay "fixes":
    Straylight's ADaoB - Fucking essential.
    Secmod - Just a little more fun.
    No Spiders - Good the second time around. Fucking Hoppers.
    Difficulty mod - For the old hands who want a challenge again.

    Graphics/Atmosphere Addons:
    Texture upgrade (SHTUP)
    Sound upgrade
    Music upgrade
    Some better models (Rebirth)
    More high-quality models (Arcaniac)
    A better pistol and shotgun (Tacticool)

    Or save me time and just bookmark strangebedfellows. They've been going strong since 2003 I think, with no signs of slowing.

    That one was made specifically for Arachnophobes IIRC.

    I have yet to see a game where a knee high monkey can scare the crap out of you.

    Heck, they managed to make you worry about C3P0.

    I was scared of those monkeys. You hear them before you see them, see. Tiny sqeaking...somewhere in the darkness. So you raise your weapon and move forward cautiously. It's coming from down the corridor, slightly to the right. Has to be that room. Right? right. Ok. Pistol is looking good, loadin up some anti-personel rounds...not takin any chances out here, man. Gonna slide...slowly...just need...one clear shOMGGETITOFFGETITOFFAAGHBITINGBURNINGAAAGH!!!

    ...right. I'll come back here when I've got a grenade gun then.

    Not a problem. I've been playing around with Shock 2 since it came out, so any help you need just ask.

    BTW, I just tossed the No Spiders mod in there, because frankly, I hate it when the little fuckers ambushed me on the later decks before I had found a QRE. Especially Rec Deck. But ESPECIALLY right after
