I'll look tonight and see if I can up the contrast but still keep the colors relatively desaturated. I wanted the colors to be muted ... it looked better to me.
Yea, that last portrait was one of my few serious photographic endeavors. Essentially I spent the day with her shooting at several locations that she had chosen and such; it was fantastically helpful for me.
As for the deception one; that image was taken at Hollywood Studios in California on a set from War of the Worlds. I went there on vacation and had a spectacular time practicing framing shots of staged stuff realistically, since I actually plan on going into cinematography.
I had my first class on digital photography at a community center tonight. it was interesting. the guy is real into saturation and abstract and surreal photography as well as getting rid of dead space in photos which i actually like. meh. he's a cool guy so we'll see where this takes me.

The first thing he mentioned on taking good interesting photos was the rule of thirds. but he also said that you dont have to abide by it and that this rule is meant to be broken... so at least he knows somefinnn. haha.

Nah.
Duh, salti, real artists don't care about passing classes, they care about making art.

I care about passing art history classes because like hell if I'm retaking that.
Liberal Arts are the bane of my existence.
I'm usually No. 1 in my art classes then I get C's in all my LA shit. Luckily I can just take all my LA classes online and waste slightly less time on them.
And thanks prospicience, I'm getting that feeling too, I think it's either because the background is in focus or the cropping is slightly awkward, anyway just a high speed experiment. I go on holiday for a week on saturday so you should see some more out of me when I get back.
Wow, it's been too long since I've posted in here. I really should do so more often!
Great work from JAmp5 (as usual ). Loving that car-park saltiness, and loving your shit too, Pope. Anna, you actually make wine look tasty (as you do with all food products :P), and shake, I want to hear you play guitar!
Here's some stuff from early January, from my family vacation. Some are nice, some I just threw in because I thought you may find them interesting.
Some random beach.
More stuff from a random beach
Nothing too interesting in the way of composition, but stingrays are just so cool (same beach as above)
Eh, this one isn't from my holidays, but I thought I'd throw it in... I know how much y'all love cat/dog photos *looks at phonehand* :D
bat: howd you make the border blurry like that on the 2nd one?
i mean i would think blur tool, but that's too much work.. is there an easy way cuz that thing looks sexy.
Actually just addind a partially-transparent white border wouldn't do that. Add a border of any color, then select the border. Now delete the border or hide the layer the border is on, and you should still have the selection. Go to the layer the pic is on and gaussian blur it to whatever amount looks good.
As with many things in photoshop, there are probably a dozen ways to get this result and what I posted above is just the first thing that occurred to me to get there. It's not necessarily the best way.
^ Yah that's right there's plenty of ways to do it in PS. Not sure if my way was the fastest or easiest, but it involves duplicating the photo layer. Then with the layer that's on top you delete the outside edges, so that it's smaller than the layer below it (and creates an invisible border), but still looks the same. Then just gaussian blur (filter, not by hand) the bottom layer, maybe desaturate it a tad, and add a white stroke outline to the top layer.
I did a similar thing with this one (not sure if i've posted this here before):

fun with photoshop.
Sometimes, I get bored.
Sometimes, I decieve people!
Other times, I do commissioned portraits. I wish this woman was Christine Daae.
This is beautiful. It's on a whole different level from your other two portraits.
Also, the 'deception' one is really cool, how is it deceptive? That is to say, I can't see it, so it must be good.

As always, crits and comments welcome!
I like this one but somethings bugging me about it. I can't quite put my finger on it though... argh this is gonna drive me nuts.
Edit: sorry to not be much help, as soon as I figure out what "it" is I'll post again (unless someone beats me to it).
