From reading the Dystopia forums, it seems that Team Dystopia are saying that the problems with this update is Valve's fault, but they also kinda fucked up themselves. Absolutely nowhere have they posted what the update was supposed to do and their forums are the only place where they've posted the fix to this problem. I think a few more people would be aware of it if they posted something to their Steam group and their front page.
Its sad, though. I tend to do more damage in a game with the boltgun than anyone with any weapon(sometimes a really good minigunner will beat me), but my K:D always sucks using it.
Ok, this games great, I'm sold. Even with a team killing bitch trying to ruin our fun.
Just remember, either on purpose or on accident, TK'ing happens pretty often and you shouldn't take it personally. If a Heavy launches a rocket and three of his teammates run towards it, he's not entirely responsible for what happens.
I was playing the map where the first objective is to capture the docks, as punks, and I was sniping with the MK-808 from the ledges above the docks. I had thermals on, and accidentally killed a teammate(Shot three times in quick succession, didn't realize it was team damage until it was too late). Dude starts bitching up a storm.
While in the middle of arguing/trying to get him to calm down, I jumped down, and killed three dudes in a row without dying(Not that it matters, but it was SqueeGeez, and two other high ranked dudes). The guys on the other team start telling the guy I TKed to shut up because I'm so awesome :P
This game makes my E-Peen rage sometimes, first time I've ever been called a force of nature before.
As far as teamkilling goes, I think people have been a little spoiled by the arcadey nature of a lot of other games. Not that it's a bad thing, but the sole fact that you can plug people on your team changes the pace of the game immensely, to a way I prefer--even though I can see how others wouldn't.

On the other hand a team-mate who shoots you as you spawn. Dirty fucking team killer.
I like having friendly fire on, it makes you more deliberate about who you shoot. You don't just shoot anything that moves, you have to identify your target. Sometimes it lets those certain shitfuckers sit and TK you constantly on purpose at your spawn point but if you're on a good server you can votekick them or have an admin ban them.

What sucks, however, is when a Heavy sits in the middle of a hallway, making it impossible for other players to shoot around him.

So many times I'm cooking a grenade ready to let go, and the heavy steps into the doorway. BUZZZZZ.

Someone almost always does that when I play. Before you storm that room full of enemies, maybe toss a few grenades, because that's what I'm going to do and I sure as hell don't want you to run in as I do it.

Its pretty necessary given the nature of alot of weapons in Dystopia as well. Turn off FF and defense at any chokepoint become stupid easy.
Wow, I finally got to play this and it's not as bad as I thought it was I had a blast playing it even though I was the worst player :P and I really liked the music! Although sometimes it's a bit too loud.
A few of the maps were causing my computer to lag like hell, with some sections causing my comp to go to 1 frame per second or so.
So I dropped my resolution from 1024x768 to 800x600 as well as killing a lot of the graphics detail and hoh boy did the frame rate take a noticeable jump upwards. I'm getting a rock solid 60fps and the game still looks fantastic as well.
The Dystopian team released a new update to fix the old update. It's also supposed to fix the "no steam log on" and "this account does not own this game" error which may have come up for some of us. Also it removed the steam.inf file that we had to create since it can cause trouble when connecting to a server.
Something completely unrelated, has anyone been able to play the tower map that is in the map pack on 1.2? It always seems to crash the game whenever I try to load it up

So the cheapest way into the game is HL2 for $10, yeah?

Just do it.
I have a HL2 gift i could give you, if you PM me your steam name. been sitting in my account since orange box, everyone i know has it.
I thought we'd decided that the cheapest way was to take advantage of the ATi and Nvidia offers for a free copy of Lost Coast/HL2DM. Or did that not work?

Regardless, go buy HL2. It is awesome.
Mods require that you have the Source SDK on your Steam account. Those deals don't give you that.
So, just how tricky is it to learn to deck in the game, there's been a couple of rounds where no-one on my team was decking so I had a go at it, almost instantly I was completely and utterly lost and had no clue what I was doing.
There is two levels of decking understanding. Knowing how to deck, and knowing how to deck that level. If you log into an empty server and mess around in cyberspace, the first part will come quickly, learning moving, "rocket" jumping in CS, jumping to go fast, program orders and what they all do.
To learn the second part you really have to deck each part of each map as the attacking team (defense is easy once you know what they are after). This again can be done in an empty server, or you could do it live if you think the team will be forgiving/no other deckers. An inexperienced decker is better than no decker!

Or you can copy/paste it from another source mod.

All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.
