I visited that on-campus museum at McGill just yesterday and got to see a fourth-edition print of Origin of the Species, plus a letter from Darwin thanking some professor for his help. Nerdgasmic.

Scientist Looks to Weaponize Ball Lightning
Ball lightning has been the subject of much scientific scrutiny over the years. And, as with many powerful natural phenomena, the question arises: "Can we turn it into a weapon?" Peculiar as it may seem, that's exactly what some researchers are working on -- even though it hasn't even been properly replicated in the laboratory yet.

Interesting article, plus a video of ball lightning sightings that is for some reason really spooky

I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla patented a method by which to resurrect himself using electric currents

    that video is terrible
pretty much all of the clips are such poor resolution they could be any glowy thing in the sky, including a lit plastic bag blowing around in the breeze
yet supposedly it's video footage of ball lightning

Speaking of things that are barely even considered science any more!

If you get an annual pass at Sea World they make sure it is you by using a fingerprint scanning machine rather than taking a picture of you. This amazed me so much

But now I can't burn off my fingerprints until 2010
