So it's ash Wednesday; day 1 of 40 days of self sacrifice for everyone's favorite denomination of Christianity. Though I am less devout than even your laziest C&E Catholic I do try to observe lent but purely for personal reasons.

How many other recovering Catholics here will be eating fish, chowder, and mac n' cheese today and every Friday for the next few weeks?

    is today going to be the day when i see a lot of people with charcoal marks on their face and think "man what's with all the hobos" and "that mark looks like an ELEPHANT" before i figure out it's a religious thing

    I ain't even a Catholic but it is an interesting thing to try to give up one thing you like for 40 days

    I almost forgot today was Ash Wednesday, but someone had a mass schedule posted on their door in the hall. I'm not very religious, but I did benefit. Fucking smelt on the menu in the cafeteria today! Such delicious little fish.
