Is it bad that I find SS2 to be by far the scariest game I have ever played?

Like, I can take Dead Space and all that with no trouble, but SS2 just screws me up bad, even with the old, silly looking models.

I still consider Metroid 2 for the Game Boy to be one of the scariest games I've ever played.

I found metroid 2 to be just unnerving as it gets

just claustrophobic and this utter feeling of isolation

I loved that game, I've beaten it tons and even do that whole "glitch world" exploring

oh and the music near the end. Good stuff.

So I am seeing that this game is pulling an 85% on gamerankings. But all the reviews say it is just RE4++.

Which seems like exactly what I wanted. So why isn't this game of the year already is what I'm asking

I need to play through more of this in the next few weeks.

Gamertag Arsenic7 if you don't have me added already. Had a blast playing with Javen the night of release. I'm only on act 2-3 but I'm totally willing to play with people in any act before that and earn some mad cash.

Anyone else agree that the SA-X in Metroid Fusion is pretty unnerving?

the controls were just so fucking awful compared to dead space that
I just could not play it again

I've been finding the game to not be all that scary. Most of the time things jumping up at you has been set up by the fact that you're walking around an eerily empty location... I miss the scary. Having said that I'm finding the game to be fantastic!

I wasn't scared once in that game, and I'm usually a fucking pussy when it comes to scary stuff. I guess it was the 3rd person perspective or something, because I almost pissed myself thirty times playing Bioshock.

Anyone find the learning curve in the game a bit steep? I must have died like 5 times in the beginning of the game and maybe 1 or 2 times since

I killed one of them but the other one would not die, flat out refused.

So I kinda bailed cause I can't be wasting all my Grenade Launcher rounds on that fuck, Atleast I'm pretty sure I had the launcher at that point, or I was saving shotgun shells and grenades for later.

Also Grenade Launcher with Acid rounds is the only fucking thing you need

I'm not to that part but killing the minions that attack you will generally get you more ammo.

It's either that or fooling them into attacking you and then knifing them a few times.

So for those who've beaten the game. Just how racist did you find it?

RE5 is very fun and very pretty but it's not as engaging or lengthy as RE4 was

Also could they honestly be any more obvious about who the hooded lady with the bird mask is

It's just the opposite for me. I've played so many freaking FPSs that I can't be scared of them, because no matter what I'm shooting I just instinctually play counter-strike style and kill everything. I guess it's a product of too much familiarity with WASD-mouse.

best part about the chainsaw dude is that his attacks are pitifully slow so you can just run past him if you get cornered

my friend and I did that for about fifteen minutes while we tried to figure out how to beat him

dead space is ridiculously good. i think i've played through it three times.

I managed to get all 1000 achievement points in that game, but I didn't have internet access at the time, so a friend was simultaneously using my Live account on his Xbox, where he had recovered it to

then I got internet, and realized I had to recover my gamertag back to my own xbox

and in doing so obliterated all the achievement points I had accrued while offline

    :x

Honestly, this was mostly me as well

But then I find that once you die a few times, survival-horror games get way less intense

like, OH GOD OH GOD LOOK AT THAT LOVECRAFTIAN MONSTROSITY OH GOD WHERE IS MY AMMO

and then you die and you're all "oh hey so I guess i just respawn at the last checkpoint huh. that ain't so bad"

Probably the most terrifying horror game would be one that kept you constantly on the brink of death but in which you never died

By the time I got to my sixth playthrough of Dead Space it really wasn't scary at all anymore, but still tense
