So, one of the things that I did when back home with my mom was work on sewing/quilting.

We found this really nice pattern (with like a jillion variations) for placemats. And since i'm currently all about the "must have own house", we launched right into them. But we needed to find a backing fabric so, oops, we went down to her favorite quilt shop. And oops, bought a bunch of fabric.

And then we went up into lancaster county and into the Amish shops and the fabrics and ooooops, bought a bunch more.

Well, we finished the first set of placemats while I was there, and I came home with a whole bunch more fabric. Probably enough to make roughly 4 more sets of placemats and probably some really nice quilted napkins as well.

Also, while we were in Hawaii on the way back, in the lobby of our hotel, there were these nice little old ladies selling quilt patterns and kits to do some traditional Hawaiian patterned pillow cases and crib quilts.

So of course I bought a bunch of the patterns.

my fabric stash has just about tripled, I've got a pattern that I know that I can do, and I have the machine and the materials to do something with.

Now to just find the time and the awakeness.

    Man, you guys. Hawai'i.

    No, seriously.

It might just be that we've done everything right this single day holiday, but man.

I am just blown away and already talking about coming back.

    Waikiki is just gorgeous.

So we ate at this Italian place last night on Honolulu.

I ordered a five mushroom risotto. The waiter brought it out mostly finished and also a large parmesan cheese rind.

He used a blowtorch on the inside of the cheese, melting it a tiny bit, then put in the risotto and stirred it all around and then served it.

    It was amazing.

Ooh, what was the place called? I'm going to be in hono soon and that sounds delicious

Arancino. It's right on Waikiki. Right across from this amazing looking Church with a copper roof they was amazing oxidized, if it was all shined up, it would be spectacular.
