Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

  • Six Weeks To A Sick [Strength Training] Thread

I'm down to 253lbs. Better catch up soon, @Arthil! :P

I'm tempted to talk to that trainer I see even though my working out alone is going fine

But maybe I can ask him for a quote and see if I could work it into my budget because it might help me with my random issues and to establish a proper program....

    Hm. Prolly expensive.

Getting a trainer was huge for me. And maintaining my motivation. I cannot recommend a good trainer more. Give it a go.

Sorry I was on my phone and wanted to answer, but now I have a bit more time.

having Tom has been a huge improvement. Not just because I have somebody to make sure I don't hurt myself, but because of the motivational aspects that he gives me. Also I have somebody that I'm accountable to. I would let myself go if I had the chance. I really would. I am lazy and I have crap for willpower (no really, I do). And ecco is supportive but there's no way that he could force me to do something that I didn't want to do. Particularly when it comes to food and things. With Tom, he is this presence that is almost always there in the back of my mind, anytime that I reach for the donuts at work I can hear him gently reminding me of my goals and my wedding. he's the stronger voice in my head than my own voice.

And having somebody who has seen the whole journey, from start to finish, is refreshing. Especially when I can not only surprise myself, but surprise him as well. Running for 2 minutes straight was a shock to me, but the look on his face was worth all of the pain.

My journey is definitely different than yours and no two people or trainers are the same, but I would not give up my experience with him for anything. And I mean that as sincerely as I can say anything. It might just be the thing taht kicks your training up to the next level.

I just remembered a story where two guys bought me a drink! I'll tell it later when I'm not on my phone!

    ok, so.

I was on the plane leaving the East Coast heading to Arizona to switch planes to go to LA in order to wait for 4 hours to then switch planes again in order to come to New Zealand. I chose to sit in the very last row of the plane, right next to the bathroom. I ended up getting sat with a group of Rhodes Scholarship students from all over the world. The two boys in my row in particular were from Georgia (the country) and Saudi Arabia. They were all studying to be Journalists, all 12 of the group. so of course, as part of their natural state of being, they began quizzing me about my trip and everything.

We spent the entire plane flight from Maryland to Arizona talking and laughing and things. Basically driving everybody around us insane. Well they heard the story of how I was leaving everything behind and going to new zealand to live with Ecco and they thought that was the best thing ever. So when the flight attendant came by, the both of them argued over which one was going to buy me a drink. The boy from Georgia finally succeeded. So that is how I had two guys fight over who was going to buy me a $6 Jack & Coke.
