Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
I still find it insane that people take the bible literally when if they did even the quickest of google searches and did the smallest amount of reading into the history and theology of their beliefs they'll understand how out of date a lot of the text is and how it should be seen as a book of general values to be considered in life with the free will God gave you not a fucking rule book that has to be constantly adhered to letter for letter, word for word.
Hell Reverand Lovejoy from the Simpsons put it best, "have you actually sat down and read this thing, technically we're not even allowed to go to the bathroom."
And I find Dawkins to be a conservative, contradictory prick who happens to be incredibly knowledgable and smart and clever within his field but horrifically ignorant and arrogant about many social issues. I mean just look at these quotes from him this previous September
He said other children in his school peer group had been molested by the same teacher but concluded: "I don't think he did any of us lasting harm."
"I am very conscious that you can't condemn people of an earlier era by the standards of ours. Just as we don't look back at the 18th and 19th centuries and condemn people for racism in the same way as we would condemn a modern person for racism, I look back a few decades to my childhood and see things like caning, like mild pedophilia, and can't find it in me to condemn it by the same standards as I or anyone would today."
Isn't that the whole basis for criticising the bible and how fundamentalist religions act in a contemporary setting with outdated rules and standards
