Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

  • PAX East 2014 badges and hotels

I got all the badges I needed and a room in the Westin, so I realize I have no room whatsoever to talk. That said, I really respect our... respectable... PAX organizers for trying something new with the pre-announcement. They had an idea, they put it out there, it didn't really work. They get torn up every year by angry people who didn't get tickets/hotel rooms/transportation/enough hugs as a child, and they wanted to see if there was a better way. It was a little tiny bit of a fiasco, but at least they tried.

I don't think PA dropped the ball. I think OnPeak dropped the ball and then kicked it all the way across the field and into oncoming traffic, but PA had no control over that. OnPeak should've been better prepared, they weren't, and that's that. Maybe they'll have better servers next year. Maybe they won't even be the company doing the hotels. That's another year away and I very strongly doubt they're checking the PAX forums to see how mad people are.

In all the freaking out and bashing of whoever and whatever that's going on around here, I want everyone to keep in mind that they get a gold star for effort and a lot of what happened was out of people's control. They hopefully learned that the pre-announcing just makes things worse, and they'll try something new next time. Anyone remember the Jordan Mechner keynote? Let's go back to being PAX friends.

I have an extra Gabe and Tycho pins that came with the exclusive set and the exclusives you had to trade for that i'm willing to part with also.

    I wouldn't mind the Red Magic Pack...either...

    PMed you.

I also edited my original post with an actual itemized list.

ETA: Can we all please remove or clearly mark items we no longer have/want? It would save us all some wasted time, at the least.

  • I'm so disappointed in the panels.

As someone who used to attend GenCon, I feel pretty qualified to say that the "register for panels ahead of time" model is one of the stupidest ways to ruin a convention. OP, if you'd done your research or thought about it, you'd realize that there are 70K+ people trying to get into panels, and you can't reasonably expect to just walk into a popular panel like you would at a small convention. Waiting in a line is not painful or damaging to the convention experience. You meet great people, play fun games, and learn a little time management. They've been running PAX like this for years and I personally think that you shouldn't hold the convention responsible for your misconceptions.

  • PAX is Finally here

Does the front of the BCEC already say "welcome home" on it? Last year I almost cried when I saw that.

  • PAX Train Alliance 2013: Metal Gear Line (Chicago, Cleveland, Buffalo, Albany, Boston)

First world PAX Train problems: too hungry to sleep, too tired to get up and find food.

Also, it's really hard to sleep in these coach seats.
