Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
You guys must have poor motor control with your index finger. ;)
Hey, you try shooting concerts at venues with no pit using half-shutter presses.
It's also just good to have total separation of AF and the shot. Focus, recompose, stand back for a minute as you wait for the subject to come into frame, then fire without having to move your lens again or having AF kick back in on the shutter press. You can get around that by turning it off of course but it's just another thing interfering with getting the shot.
I used that method for this shot in Central Park as I waited for some kind of subject but botched it with some camera shake anyway :\
I also despise poles. It's a failed shot but a good example of the technique I think.
Opium can produce mild hallucinations though, which also grows as wild plants, and is popular (and grows naturally) in southeast Asia. If they were referencing anything that exists, it was probably opium.
Probably shouldn't believe what you see in anime though.
