Man it's not really GTA iv is it?

I thought it was more like fallout 3 except with good combat.

Hmm, watched the gameplay thing again

It would be better as a mix between GTA4's interactivity and Fallout's enviroment, but I think it would be better even further degraded. The vehicle was way way too clean, everything should be scraps, life by the skin of your teeth and such

Yes.
Procedurally generated guns. Procedurally generated enemies.
The original "boast" of the game was "OVER HALF A MILLION GUNS" but they have apparently broken beyond that.

I'm looking forward to the sniper rifle that shoots explosive rounds.

Also, co-op.

That's a pretty big thing.

Borderlands can have up to 4 people co-op.
Full drop in/drop out availability from the looks of it.
Your character from single player carries over to whatever world you're dropping into, and whatever you accomplish there will carry back.

procedurally generated guns? Are these realistic guns, or wacky fantasy guns, because I really can't imagine too many variations.

edit:: at least, not enough for half a million

Half a million guns. Introducing two of the heavy hitters,

The Mega death laser Mk. XI - 35 damage
The Mega death laser Mk. XII - 35.5 damage

it mixes up ammo types, damage types, clips and that sort of thing

i saw a demo where a guy got a sniper rifle with a revolver clip that fired electric bullets

Speaking of interesting things from E3, APB looks like the first MMO I might actually play.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun write-up of APB

Also, any of you guys following Mafia II? I loved the first one and this one looks great as well.

Mafia had a great story to it. Every time someone complained about the way the cars handled, I died a little inside.

Why?

Yes, it's "accurate" and "realistic" to give the cars shitty handling, but then you're still playing an open-world driving game with shitty-handling cars.

It's more of an actual game problem than a presentation problem.

The complaints aren't "There seems to be some gameplay issues tied in with the realism in the game" it's "WHY CANT I POWERSLIDE???"

Making a part of the game more difficult for the sake of realism is not breaking the gameplay. It's like complaining because you're playing a baseball sim and every player doesn't hit home runs.

I can't wait to get to cracking criminal skulls in APB. I hope the cops our outnumbered two to one. That would just mean there will be more bodies for us to bag and tag.
