Man, I basically gave you noobs the golden key to the melee city, and you're still squacking like a bunch of cocks.

Yeah, cocks, like the bird.

Question for the other Gladiators here: What manastones are you using on your equipment? At 27, I've started doing some PvP raids in the abyss and some 1 on 1 combat and I have noticed that having ALL +Crit gear is now a mistake. It was fine for PvE but now I need to switch it up. I bought some +21 accuracy stones but haven't slotted them yet.

I dueled a 25 glad who was wielding a GS and slotted tons of parry manastones. His parry rating was approaching 1.5k with the parry buff we have. I think he would have won by a nose, but it's hard to tell as a mob spawned and started attacking me. Either way, looking at the combat log I saw him parrying a ton of my attacks.

My equip is fine. All green or blue lvl 23 crafted armor and the best polearm I could get, so that's not where I'm weak. I've dominated assassins and gone toe to toe with templars, but against this parry/GS glad I lost. I do recall fighting a ranger and whiffing a bunch of hits.

Any manastone tips for PvP? In a group I smash faces, since I'm never the main target and the healers don't really have to worry about me, but I'd like to be a *bit* stronger 1v1, even though I know it's not our bread and butter. Plenty of melee pvp experience as a rogue in WoW.

I think you're a lot funnier in your own head.

Anyhow: I've been on the fence for a long time now on this; my friends have started playing, and they have good things to say. The problem is, they all play at different times than I can; I work very strange hours, so my question is: how are the server populations, on say, the east coast servers?

edit: I guess I should specify the times: either early morning (11 PM - 3 AM) or afternoon (1 PM - 3 PM).

I'm sure it'd be a lot more useful if it applied whatsoever in the air, where so far 90% of the abyss pvp occurs.

Yeah, I never actually had an opportunity to test it, as in any fight where I needed any amount of skill or attention at all, dropping in like that would be suicide.

You may need to update your definition of flaming. That's one of the tamer posts in this thread.

Your mother smells of elderberries!

Actually I have the exact same problem with the whole sounding funnier in my head thing.

I think peoples main problem was after the whole drama thing stopped and was good Costanza came in and said "OKAY EVERYBODY COOL IT WE'RE DONE HERE NO NEED TO DRIVE THIS INTO THE GROUND STOP IT GUYS"

Which would have been appropriate if he had stated that a couple of pages before hand.

Also who in here is Elyos on Trinel?

I need to make a list

Of people.

To kill.

With Arrows.

To death.

Arrows.

Okay, some things that'll help people fresh in the abyss and wanting to get into group based pvp.

1. Set your minimap to always north. Options -> Right hand side, Check box next to Fix Compass North.

If your group says "4 coming in south" and you're spinning around while waiting for your group to take off to lead the way, you're going to be the slow one to get there. Noone wants to be the slow one.

2. Set your targeting to show target of target, and distance to target. Options -> Bottom right, Check mark next to show distance to target, and show target of target.

Pvp in this game gets confusing, especially with the people above you, below you, and god forbit you try to pan your camera, you're going to randomly target people if you're a melee class. Use target of target, and the assist key (default tilde) if you happen to somehow get a target of a friendly. Use distance to target because it gives you an altitude meter, telling you if your target is above you or below you.

3. Always bring flight pots. Always always always. Get the 24 second increasing ones, no less. 12 Second ones will let you survive by getting to an island. 24 Second ones will let you chase someone down and win a fight. Slot jewelry with increased flight time. Being in the air gives you an advantage, don't give it up.

4. Use Titles wisely. Bottled lightning is great, but by the time you're 25 you can get Savior of Eiron Forest from the 3 Kurin brothers quest. Get that title, its going to be great for your 25-30 range in the abyss.

I'm sure i'll think of more info to pass on lil later.

We were running groups for the past two nights, swooping in killing 1-2 people, then waiting around on teleporter island to get a huge fight. We fought off 9 people with 6 of us, none of us super leveled (Our cleric highest at level 30, rest between 25 and 29) and raked in the AP and CP for the Legion. When you're standing, and theres just a pile of dead furbacks behind you, while theres 6 of you chasing after that one templar who hit charge and tried to haul ass, you're just imagining flight of the valkyries in your head while you're pulling a flying V formation after them.

Its pretty fun. I havn't had this much fun in pvp in a long while.

I tried it out with my templar, but it didn't make a big difference in terms of what I could do. The one time I've thought jumping had a cool effect is on Inescapable Judgment (the pull skill), which seems to make it work faster, but I can't always get it to go off.

I'll keep playing with it a little more, as I'm intrigued. There are times in normal fighting where an animation will bug and just do instant damage and I'd like to be able to control it more. I believe it doesn't allow you to attack any faster than normal though, correct?

Damage is always instant, you can tell by watching your combat log. The delay is because it pops up on the main screen in time with the animation.

Yeah, group PvP in the Abyss is definetly where it's at, though you have to have patience. Going crazy with no thought for team strategy will soon end you.

Basically, if you're in a situation where you're chasing a dude who has equal flight time to you with no means to slow or charge him, you're either going to give up or get hit by an Asmodean bugzapper.
