Oh I meant the celebrity pep talk, not Chris Baty's. Did that go out yet?

The celebrity pep talk? It very well may have gone out, the way emails are going from NaNo I guess I won't get it for a couple of days!

That time could be better spent writing! Is that just the check that runs to get info from the NaNo site? I always just update my count manually on the site for the sig.
Aye, I barely got to write yesterday after trying to fix a bunch of stuff... which is okay, because I wanted to add time zones... but I think I'm going to avoid making any more changes unless it's something really important from this point out, just to make sure I don't fall behind for its sake. =) We can improve the code between december and next November in the worst case for next year. ;)

But indeed, I think whatever this problem is is actually beyond my control: I'm pretty sure my provider is turning it off somehow, that's the only way I can explain it, since no errors even get logged: it must not be running in the first place.

So indeed, don't rely on the NaNo API to update your word count! It may do it sporadically, but it's unreliable, and has only successfully done it once in the last 48 hours. =(

EDIT: Also, holy crap! Stankerbell came out of NOWHERE to take the lead! Way to go stankerbell! =)

Seriously. That's a pretty large lead, too!

In other news, I'm really enjoying the third chapter so far. My main character just woke up thinking his stomach was grumbling at him again, then he realized it was a giant black bear ready to eat him!

Good times.

Well good, I hit the mark again today. I wasn't sure I was going to have time, but I got it done. Which bodes well for the future.

So I've decided to start this actually!

This year instead of writing somewhat inconcequencal stuff, I've decided to finally write a story that has been in my head for years. It's an idea that I've been building up for ages. I feel almost giddy finally writing it.

Okay, I've abandoned the Steampunk story since it just wasn't working and went with zombies. Much better. Since last night I've done almost 6K words, so it's already flowing much better (After 3 days on the Steampunk story, I had 2500 words). Need to catch up, though.

Wow, I didn't realize how behind I was today. At least now I'm safely back in the top ten for the time being. I guess if worst comes to worst, a few zombies can pad just about any word count.

Yahoo, out of the red for the first time! With four or five more good sprints I should be into the green and caught up for today.

Hit a little snag earlier, but decided it would take far too long to work out perfectly for a first-draft situation, so I sort of half-assed it and moved on. The urge to go back and edit is strong, but I keep telling myself that's what December is for.

Resist, Usagi! You can do it. I know how hard that is. Just have to keep the goal in mind.

Looks like come December we're going to need a thread all about editing.

Okay, I said fuck it and pushed through. Just shy of 7K words. I think I'm caught up. Good good.

7K words in two days. Man.

I was thinking about this earlier. The best way to go about it would be to pair people up and have them swap their stories with each other and give criticisms and edit it. If everybody only has to look at one story they can give better feedback than everybody cherry picking stories and just generalizing advice on a couple of stories.

I just zoned out and wrote about 700 words. They actually don't look terrible. They look HORRIBLE.

I love NaNoWriMo.

Out of the red, and hopefully into the green after a short break.

That sounds like a good way of doing it!

Initially I was just thinking there would be a thread where people could post the parts they're having trouble with, like posting a paragraph or page here and there and asking people to look over it. Pairing people up that way would make more sense, though, if there was enough interest.

Only made 990 tonight, but it's going to have to tide me over until tomorrow because there's no way I can stay awake any longer. Keep them fingers rumbling Nanobots!

I think maybe doing it in December may be a bit soon.

Maaan, I can't tell if I'm going to be beating readers over the head with this repetition, or if it's sufficiently subtle. I'm officially too close to the story.

It'll be okay, Wank! At least that seems like it wouldn't be so bad to fix if you finish and it needs to be fixed in the revisions.

And Geebs, it is soon but I guess editing starts the day after NaNo ends, really. I have a feeling my story may end up taking longer than just the 50,000 words in November to fully tell, though.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure 50000 won't finish this story, considering I'm this far in and I'm still setting up characters

I'm about 550 words behind, which is satisfactory. I finished today's 1666 and about 700 extra, so I'm calling it a night. If I can just write the same amount tomorrow I'll be all caught up.

Oh man, thank you Geebs.

I keep looking at my word count and going "But I'm still only just getting started, really ..." -- Looks like it'll be a NaNoWriTwoMo.

I only got 1,600 or so done today. I lost about 7 hours on a trip to Chicago, though, so it's not too bad.

One of my professors actually gave a Pep Talk last year. I had no idea she knew of NaNoWriMo. I was failing my first Nano attempt while in her class.
