What is the issue with multicore? Isn't the entire point of multicore rendering to make the game run better?
Yes, and it does. But for some reason, it hates G92 based video cards. 8800GT, 8800GTS 512, 9800GT.

Hmm.. I wonder if Helicoptor guy got infected by the survivors.
He says he ran into some trouble on an earlier run... that more or less tells you there he got bit

Also, the survivors all make it through another 3 campaigns and a mini campaign. I think we'd notice if they were infected by then.
Weren't we just talking about carriers?
You said, and I quoted, "survivors."
Carriers, like the example of Typhoid Mary can spread the disease to others but are not themselves affected by the disease. It could be the survivors are capable of spreading the infection, while not actually being infected themselves (EG turned into zombies) and that makes them particularly difficult.

I ninja'd you.

Also, why are real-world things suddenly impacting what is more or less a Michale "awesome" Bay game?

I love L4D1,

and the L4D2 demo.

So many melee weapons and associated puns.

But I cannot afford L4D2.

Whos the lucky sailor that wants to buy me L4D2?

Steam name is cango_fett

There aren't enough explosions and no slow motion to make this game Michael Bay.

Also, the military would be winning and have Ospreys for no reason.

Because they always have? Lots of games and movies have been delayed because of real-world events they resembled.

I'm pretty sure you guys have this all wrong.

First off, I commend you all for trying very hard to figure this out, but clearly you missed one very very vital bit of information that is quite obvious.

If the survivors were carriers they would look like this: Spoiler:

Clearly they are not carriers, conversation is moot. But if they were the game wouldn't be any fun, as you can see why, you wouldn't even need 4 survivors, one would do the trick just fine. Having 4 surviving carriers is just insane.

Man if the survivors were carriers then why would the infected be going apeshit about them, then? I think we agreed that it's because they can sort of sense that they're immune/clean, so if they're haulin' the shit around you'd think the infected would be cool with that.

No because since they're immune, they aren't altered in any way. The virus simply lives within them.

Hmm, I suppose it might also depend on just what they mean by Carrier, since it could cover anything from full-blown Typhoid Mary coming-out-of-every-pore-and-organ bacteria manufacturing to dudes who might be immune and completily rejecting the virus but whose clothes and shit are hauling it around, like how centuries ago you'd usually burn everything you owned if you came down with something serious.

Why is everyone overlooking my expert analysis of this entire discussion? I'm pretty sure I summed it all up...

well...

At least 99.99% sure, but there is that offchance of that .01%... Dirty little percent it is indeed... How I loathe it....

But really carriers of the disease are like the best special infected.

With Flippy and Lagnar and... Crap.. Someone else, we did awesomely with a bile jar on a tank. The tank went down purdy quick. Oh, and the tank was on fire.
I had a good one once. There kind of has to be a decent amount of zombies around already. I did notice that trying to shoot the tank only cleared the path for the tank to get to me though...
A tank alone seems easy to deal with.

A tank AND a horde?

The Bile solves the horde part of the problem.

So if cans of bile attract the horde to attack what it lands on, why cant the boomer spit on infected and have the horde attracted to that?

retcon!

Seriously though, I think survivors exploding a boomer would be cool to attract a horde onto whatever it splashes when it dies.

Griefing, that's why. Same reason it's nearly impossible to harm fellow survivors with the bile jar.

L4Demo 2 doesn't want me to play, I've turned off multicore rendering and everything. Updated my drivers. TF2 still works.

Edit: L4D1 still works too.

Edit: It just closes abruptly, as soon as the level loads. No error message or anything.

I still get a bizarre bug where whenever I quit out of the game, my desktop reverts to the resolution the game was playing at. I wish I could run this at 1440x900, but that's just not a solution that's going to work.

It turns out that all the survivors are half-vampires, and as such have the immune responses of bat colonies to the rabies virus.
