Yar, I thought extremis was pretty rad, too. I'm sad to see it go, but it's Fraction and I'll happily eat it up

More "Myeah, See?" And fewer sword-shooting guns.

"I knew you was a bad egg from the moment I looked at you. You think greens'll get you out of this one? No. The only thing that'll get you out of this is my heater, see."

Wow, I should write Noir!

God. One of these days Marvel will power up a character and stick with it for more than 2 years.
First character that comes to mind when I think of this? Wolverine.

Read the early Claremont/Byrne run - there were actual consequences to the damage he'd take (say, for instance, UNCANNY #142, where Pyro almost kills Wolverine with one of his flame creatures).

Twenty five years later, Wolverine can regenerate from a bare skeleton in a few minutes (thank you, Mark Guggenheim).

Which would you prefer?

I think we'll find out soon, Sars, if Norman's 'friend' is who we think it might be. And jkyle - that's one. I give you Iron Man, Spider-Man, Thor et al on the other side. But like I said, perhaps I'm just too conservative in liking powers that are given to be kept and used.

I'm with you on Iron Man, and especially Spider-Man, but Thor's a god as is. I'd like Thor to be able to be used in stories without being a dues ex.

I actually agree, to be fair - once you have the Odinpower behind you, things probably don't seem as scary as they did when you were just a thunder god.

Apparently it makes you a bit slow in the head though, because any half way intelligent person would have figured out that Loki was screwing you over yet again. And smashed him/her in the teeth with a hammer.

Thor (well, the rest of the Aesir as well) is somewhat lacking in the brains department, because they take Loki's advice seriously. And they don't hit him whenever he opens his mouth.

Yes, good point. Though to be fair, he at least took Loki's head off his shoulders in Disassembled.

Oh come on, additional strength and enhanced spider-sense were far from bad. Even the night vision was okay.

Eh, I actually enjoy a reasonably weak Spider-Man. It emphasizes the fact that he needs to use his head instead of just beating people up, and it's just enough power that he'd feel bad ignoring cries for help, but not enough that he's not in incredible danger whenever he's doing what he does.

And well, the Other was just an out-of-place story in general.

Is the Skrull virus still in Tony's system?

If so, Tony will figure out a way to hack it and turn it around to his advantage.

Skrulltech suit by 2010. Calling it now.

The virus is gone, it just burned out extremis.

As for The Other, I thought it was kind of awesome. They could have at least played it off as Anansi grooming Peter to be his avatar or something and then Peter says "Fuck you dude, I knew what was happening all along. Now I have your powers and I got Reed Richards to trap you in the dark dimension." or something.

But see those were retconned so Bale isn't allowed to like them anymore.

i always think previews are so much more compelling without the dialogue.

i remember being really genuinely disappointed when marvel zombies first came out and it had actual dialogue. i was under the impression from the previews that all the zombies were silent.
