God. One of these days Marvel will power up a character and stick with it for more than 2 years. First character that comes to mind when I think of this? Wolverine. Read the early Claremont/Byrne run - there were actual consequences to the damage he'd take (say, for instance, UNCANNY #142, where Pyro almost kills Wolverine with one of his flame creatures). Twenty five years later, Wolverine can regenerate from a bare skeleton in a few minutes (thank you, Mark Guggenheim). Which would you prefer?

I'm with you on Iron Man, and especially Spider-Man, but Thor's a god as is. I'd like Thor to be able to be used in stories without being a dues ex.

It emphasizes the fact that he needs to use his head instead of just beating people up, and it's just enough power that he'd feel bad ignoring cries for help, but not enough that he's not in incredible danger whenever he's doing what he does. And well, the Other was just an out-of-place story in general.

The virus is gone, it just burned out extremis. As for The Other, I thought it was kind of awesome. They could have at least played it off as Anansi grooming Peter to be his avatar or something and then Peter says "Fuck you dude, I knew what was happening all along. Now I have your powers and I got Reed Richards to trap you in the dark dimension." or something.

i always think previews are so much more compelling without the dialogue. i remember being really genuinely disappointed when marvel zombies first came out and it had actual dialogue. i was under the impression from the previews that all the zombies were silent.
