It's also pretty funny that all three of the Avengers teams are referred to as The Avengers outside of the title of their respective books.
Kind of reminds me of when each of the teams in Justice League, Extreme Justice, and Justice League Task Force would refer to themselves as the Justice League.

Dan Slott is out of his mind.
quote:
Dan Slott is thoroughly enjoying his time on such a high profile book like “Mighty Avengers.” Not only does it give him the chance to play with a compelling characters, it also affords him the opportunity to shine the light on several Marvel titles that many readers may not be familiar with. “There are the mainstream Marvel books like ‘New Avengers’ and ‘Captain America’ and there’s all these books that have a cult status but are so brilliant that they deserve way more readers and a lot more love, like Fred Van Lente and Greg Pak’s ‘Incredible Hercules,’ Duane Swierczynski’s ‘Iron Fist,’ Rick Remender’s ‘Punisher,’ Paul Cornell’s ‘Captain Britain and MI13’ and all the cosmic books by Abnett and Lanning,” Slott said. “A lot of what we’re hoping to do in ‘Mighty Avengers’ is be the thread that ties them into the Avengers universe titles. I’d love to have Rick’s Marvel U take on the Punisher show up, or set up an Avengers/Guardians team-up.

“We had brief cameos of Captain Britain and MI13 in our last two issues. And at the start of the current issue, there’s tip of the hat to Punisher. We’re going to try and showcase things like the cosmic books and maybe pop over to England for an issue. So we’re going to try really hard to showcase some of the Marvel Universe that might get sidelined for bigger, splashier things. We want to show off some books that really deserve your love.”

Slott's Mighty Avengers is what all big time books should strive to become. Epic stories referencing the other facets of the shared universe but doing it well. JLA take note, although I know McDuffie's been fucked over by editorial bad.

He's doing it very well so far, the only thing holding Mighty Avengers down is the need to rehab Hank Pym in 6 issues or so. It's more a Hank Pym book first, Avengers book second. Once that is righted, it can compete with the other titles.

Mighty exemplies how truly cunning Loki is. He's doing so much stuff across the different books to undermine both the Cabal and Thor.

I've just got around to playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and Loki is up to his usual shit there as well. Although I do prefer him with a rack. Which is a rather revealing sentence to write.

That's not that far apart. I worked with another intern once whose eyes were inhumanly far apart. It was fucking creepy.

At first I thought they were going to Louisiana to see Father Voodoo. That would make an odd, but not bad, choice for Sorceror Supreme.

I'd accept art-college shaman girl as Sorceress Supreme, it'd be more entertaining than the other choices.

Oh yeah, and what the fuck was up with "Doom would make a terrible sorcerer supreme!" What the fuck, Bendis?

I don't think that's an unreasonable opinion. Making Doom the Sorcerer Supreme is a bit like making the Hell's Angels or the KKK into a sanctioned police force. Sure they'll protect their turf and keep out undesirables, but given their attitudes and perceptions, you don't really want them deciding how to protect your neighborhood.

I prefer the role of SS be used to make a somewhat obsure character more prominent. If Doom became SS, his role in the universe wouldn't be changed all that much. I mean, he already has tons of power, and even with the added responsibility he'd just continue to do whatever he wants.
