Jannys slips just inside the doorway and spies the goblin warrior being surrounded by her companions. Seeing an opportunity where he was distracted by two opponents, calls forth a magical storm cloud. A bolt of lightning leaps out and strikes the goblin, leaving a charred scar across it's body. The storm continues to rumble and threaten, and the goblin feels the hairs on its body stand on end as lightning dares to strike again soon.
The torturer laughs as the adventurers spill into the room, fighting off his goblin minions.
"Get the big one!" he cries, pointing at Azulan.
Two of the sharp shooters fling their crossbows to the ground and charge the paladin, short swords swinging wildly. While Azulan fights off one, the other manages to score a blow to his shoulder.
Suddenly, the goblin in the cage fires a bolt into the commotion, but amazingly it misses and shatters onto a distant wall.

Sheen brings her bow up and fires two arrows almost by instinct, her mind busy working to see if she can remember anything useful about these particular foes. Her instinct serves her well, as both arrows speed into the melee in the center of the room and slam into the goblin she had marked earlier. Still pondering, Sheen then slips to a more advantageous position.
Minor: Dungeoneering to determine if I know anything about the goblinoids - what subrace they are, any quirks that may help in battle, etc., Dungeoneering: (1d20+10=25)
Move: B8.
Also, Jannys or Aylden, if you have anything that pushes or pulls, now would be a good time to use it. I want to shove some goblins into that pit of fire!
The goblin in the cage cocks his head to one side at Azulan's query, all the while fiddling with his bow and loading another bolt.
The torturer raises a red hot iron poker and thrusts it at Azulan. The expert blow sears into his flesh and goes deep to the bone, leaving a charred, aching wound. His deep laugh fills the stone-walled chamber.
The warrior behind Azulan strikes out with his spear, piecing the paladin's thigh, before darting back and nervously eying the blocked exit.
Spoiler:
Sheen: You are able to determine that the goblins are simple goblins, the brownish skinned, sharp-teethed uncivilized sort. The torturer, on the other hand, is a hobgoblin. They are more civilized, and they often rule over tribes of lesser members.
You can tell the warrior in particular looks exceedingly frightened, and it is likely due to his wounds. Given the chance, he might try to flee. The torturer is made of tougher stuff, and he will likely fight to the bitter end. His armour is of particular interest, and looks more ornate than you've seen on such brutish creatures.
Torturer
Standard: Poker vs Azulan (1d20+6+2=28): Critical Hit! Dealing 12 damage (4 of which is fire) and +2 ongoing damage (save ends)

That's what I was hoping. Either 2 chances at death from OA's, or definite death from standing still.
Az, if I can hit with this Flame Seed, they should move away from you. Maybe. Unfortunately my skills pull, not push, so I can't try to push any into the fire. Would take a long time to try and set one up for a pull.
It'd be awesome if Gabe had his friend let us here in CF use the custom roller site that they use. Seems like IC goes down quite often.

Gavin drops his focus from his dead opponent and moves on to the next goblin. Sliding behind the nearest opponent, he buries his dagger deep into it's back causing a howl of pain to erupt across the room.

Take 1 damage to power up dagger

Seeing that the nearest goblin had dropped his crossbow to charge Azulan, conveniently leaving his flank exposed to the elf, Aylden summons forth a beam of holy light to slam into the goblin's back and cause it to fall dead to the floor. With another threat down Aylden then takes a moment to chant a healing prayer to help strengthen Azulan.
Jannys watches her carefully planned storm play out with Azulan striking down the goblin as he tried to escape the lightning's wrath. Seeing Gavin move into perfect position to replay the same events, Jannys manipulates the storm to build over the goblin's head, lightning flashing across the room's ceiling. A bolt lances downward through the goblin, leaving him burnt and even more foul smelling than before the fight began.
Somehow, he seems to be clinging to a sliver of life and is still standing. The storm above seems determined to remove that last bit if given the chance, as thunder rolls among the sounds of the battle.
"They sure are resilient! Though I wish they weren't.." Jannys curses towards the goblin when she sees him still alive.
The sharpshooters, driven into a frenzy, attack the adventurers. While the gravely injured goblin misses completely, the shooter in the cage fires a shot straight into Gavin's right side.
The dying goblin takes the opportunity to try to flee, only to be attacked by both Gavin and Azulan as he runs. Stopped at the doorway by an immovable tower of Druid, he looks down at his chest. Was he hit?

Turning his attention to the retreating goblin, Azulan swings, but is unable to connect and the goblin scurries past his reach.
Able to now focus his full attention on the torturer, Azulan moves to a better position. He stabs the hobgoblin, easily overcoming the attempted dodge and causing a deep wound.
Burning his fingers slightly, he pats out the remaining flames the torturer had started on him.

Sheen finds a bit of calm in the midst of battle. Selecting two particularly barbed arrows, she sights along her bow to find the torturer and his waving pokers. Aiming at his ugly face, she lets them fly, but must have been distracted by the flames behind the hobgoblin. Only one actually hits him, and the force of that arrow is so blunted by the torturer's armor that the creature seems to not even feel it.
Spoiler:
Actually, Oloron, the torturer is still at resist 10 all, so he only took 8 of that 18 damage and is at 44/53, if I'm not mistaken.
The torturer laughs as blow after blow merely glances off of his temporarily hardened armour. Twisting back, he swings his right arm forward and backhand's Azulan with a fiery hot poker, searing his face deeply.
Suddenly, the torturer looks less menacing. It appears he is no longer protected.

As the goblin streaks by, Gavin hurls himself forward and cuts a long gash into it's side. Screeching, it's falls to the ground in a heap. Grinning, he takes one step to the side and deals a brutal blow to the big goblin, leaving it howling in pain.
Aylden blasts the Hobgoblin with a beam of holy light, though it seems to barely injure the brute, before chanting a healing prayer to cure the majority of Azulan's wounds. He then circles around the tipped-over table, focused on the goblin in the corner of the room.
As the goblin falls dead at her feet, Jannys turns her attention towards the torturer and his red hot pokers. The storm that started at the beginning of the battle still lingers, hoping to catch another goblin in it's fury. Lightning blasts downwards and courses through the torturer's body, charring flesh and causing spasms in his limbs. Smoke begins to rise from the top of his head and the storm thunders on, menacingly daring the goblin to stay within it's reach.
