Yeah, I liked Hunt for Reactron too. Whereas I don't think Codename Patriot should've even been a crossover (it should've just happened seperately within the different books), I thought Hunt for Reactron actually had a climax and a point to it.

DC need to get their heads out of their asses and make Sterling Gates the new Teen Titans writer.
Seriously!!!

I figured the story lines are going to be a bitch to read when collect, because they go through all four superman books.

All the crossovers are collected as single books.

But because the cross over issues normally resolve major plot points from the solo stories, that's also a huge pain.

However, in all honesty, it's starting to feel like you'll be able to just read the first two New Krypton volumes and then jump right to whatever is happening in March/April with minimal explanation about what happened in between. Very few of the things that have happened since WoNK started have had any lasting effect, and I'm sure even more of the current status quo will be resolved or brushed away by the time WoNK finishes its run.

What did you guys think of Superman 693?

It's not as good as the first few Mon-El issues were, but I really liked it, and I'm glad to see the book is finally getting back to business after being nothing but exposition for Project 7734 and the Science Police in the last few issues.

I liked it but man did they just move the plot forward as fast as they could to get Mon back into superheroing so he could join the JLA.

The July, August, and September issues were all either terrible or just little bits of explanation for various background characters, so I was just happy to see Mon El back again, still fighting for the S.

Also, how about the little preview of things to come in Secret Origin 2?

I haven't been able to buy any new comics for about 1 month and 1 week now, because I ran out of money. I'm getting my first pay check the friday after next, so then I will go and hunt down all of the superman things that I missed.

I'm a little disappointed with how little they've been using Lex lately. He can be a pretty compelling villain in the hands of a good writer. But he seems to have been shoved to the sidelines lately.

They're saving him up for the end of New Krypton, where he's teamed with Braniac to take out New Krypton, and then when Braniac turns on Earth, Luthor is going to go against him. What's interesting is just how far in advance each has anticipated the other's actions.

What mental image? Wonder Hippie fresh out of the shower, flapping in the breeze, smiling warmly at his reflection in the mirror, glancing at his waiting sexypants before inserting his cock into a fish's unmentionable cavity?

That mental image?

I'm glad they've gotten rid of Lex. I am so tired of him being the main villain behind every single thing that happens in Superman's universe. It's incredibly lazy writing.

I was so excited for New Krypton, now we're in the home stretch and I'm only reading WONK and Supergirl and bored out of my mind with the rest

I feel the same way; Nightwing and Flamebird amounted to literally nothing, and haven't even captured any secret plants since their very first issue as leads.

The Mon-El story was great for the first issues and then got completely derailed by a flood of Project 7734 details that were entirely unnecessary and made the book feel really overburdened and overly 90s with the deathsquads and secret military team-ups and whatnot.

Even WoNK has felt like grade A filler, because beyond what happened to Zod, it's apparent that they're not allowed to even make the slightest change to the status quo until the book is over. Everything important from WoNK will probably be recapped in full detail in the first few pages of the big Superman event coming down the pipes once this stuff is over.

Edit: Supergirl is probably the best because Gates has the most license with the character; there's a lot more freedom to change her and her world as often as possible as long as it provides a good story.
