It's as though M Night Shyamalan was directing your game.

What a twist!
Fallout bugs are the best bugs.
Well, except the one that froze the game mid-autosave right after leaving Fort Constantine, where I hadn't actually made a normal save, and where the game again froze every time I loaded that save. After that, I decided Crowley can keep his damn armor on this playthrough. I have Fawkes as a follower and I preferred Ranger Combat Armor anyway.

Oh, and quick word of advice: never save and load a game from the top of a satellite tower.
thats why you always save before changing cells, and after loading cells.

For PL, I've heard there's some winter combat armor you can get, but only if you do some inventory trick? Do you really only get the power armor normally?
Do you mean Operation: Anchorage?

Op:Anch

Spoiler:

Point Lookout, as far as I'm aware, doesn't contain any winterized armour under any circumstances, and The Vault wiki supports this belief.

You can also get a couple of winterized armour types from Mothership Zeta...

Yeah, sorry, Op: Anch, which makes sense, you know; Anchorage, Alaska -> oil -> drilling -> power armor.

Giant Radscorpions are ridiculous. I had just completed "Big Trouble in Big Town" and without spoiling anything, let's just say that while waiting for some Supermutants, a Giant Radscorpion wandered into town and massacred almost every NPC the town had before I found it and killed it. There are just two girls left.

man eater +50% damage to insect perk works wonders for them.

Yeah, it's kind of a waste of a perk but I was bored.

EDIT: Shishkebab + pyromaniac + insect perk is...yeah.

It's Man Opener, not Man Eater.

You now, like a can opener, except for men.

Besides, real psychopaths use The Mauler. That sucker's been used in post-apocalyptic Monroeville, so you know it's good!

I have 10s across the board in SPECIAL stats so I'm just able to outrun the things now. Unless I have Dogmeat with me, who will attack them, then I just run until I find a tall rock or a cliff to run up and over which will cause them to get stuck or at least really slow them down.

I approve of the thread title.

Also, aren't albinos supposed to be genetic weaklings? Why are the albino radscorpions the strongest?

Does that perk that makes animals friendly to you work on insects as well? Might be worth taking if you have Broken Steel and hence the albino scorps.

Unfortunately no. Animal Friend only works on Mole Rats, Brahmin, Dogs, and Yao Guai. Of these, only Yao Guai make it worthwhile.

Yep, and once you get halfway strong then even Yao Guai go down with a shot or two.

That's why I dropped the level requirement to 6 in my mod. Once you can get it normally, Yao Guai are a pushover.

At level 6? Yeah, I regularly got devoured by pairs of them. They're like stinking, radioactive raptors in that respect.

Yeah, it was funny because I'd been talking to a woman downstairs and suddenly she pulls out an assault rifle and goes up. i'm like "oh! slavers! cool, programmed attack etc etc - WHAT THE FUCK SHOOT IT SHOOT IT GO DOGMEAT GO"

And now I have to redo about 20 minutes of play because Dogmeat mysteriously disappeared exiting Lucky's.

If dogmeat disappears, and doesn't die, 99% of the time if you quicktravel to Vault 101 he'll be standing behind you on the cliff with the "Scenic Overlook" sign on it. If you have the Puppies! perk this is where they'll be too.

53 hours in.

On my way to the Dunwich Building to pick up the last bobblehead I can, then it's time for Agatha's Song and Oasis as the last two side quests. Then most of the main quest, Broken Steel, and Mothership Zeta to go. What's the bet? 20 hours?

Are you playing on the PC with mods or something?

While I had hilarious results with physics bugs there wasn't a time when powerful enemies would randomly just fall from the sky in innocuous places and start murdering folks wholesale.

Radscorps getting into open towns and stuff, sure; but definitely not a enclosed location like the Temple of the Union where enemies can't get in anyway.

EDIT: Dunwich building took me awhile because I'm a huge sissy so I don't know there. Agatha's song is longer or shorter if you do the Vault-Tec HQ first or just go to the Vault itself. Oasis is super fast once you get to it.

Zeta is probably 3-4 hours give or take depending on your thoroughness.

The main story itself? Honestly it's oddly short compared to many of the side quests. A couple of the quests just require a few short things and you get the next one. I was honestly really surprised when I finally got around to starting the "main" quest, it probably took me less time than half the side quests. Though that had a lot to do with 1)my level 2)my gear and 3)I had every (I think) location already discovered so I could just fast travel to everything making some quests damn near instant.

I'd say you could probably do all that in 10-15.
