Since the hosted versions are down for everything pre-part 12 at the moment,
have a YT playlist.A faraway empire, where none shall sleep and dreams are forbidden...
A hero rests, but little does he know that it's too late already...
A light tapping at the door, and a break in post-haste!
The hero is captured, taken before the ruler...
An old man? Nay! A young man and his Minister are afront...
A test of mettle? Four fiends? A new journey!
'Where IS this place?' The hero cries approaching the first...
This... is the Empire of Jillius. A place where dreams are outlawed
due to selfishness and idiocy. An insominiac ruler with a god complex?
Where did the fiends come from and who are they truly?
None know and none care. Only one thing is certain...
Klonoa can... nay will
stop the fiends to save the empire!
Maybe then he can finally get his rest...
Klonoa: Empire of Dreams (Kaze No Klonoa: Empire of Dreams; lit. Klonoa of the Wind: Empire of Dreams) was released in early/late 2001 for Japan/America (respectively) and early 2002 for Europe on the Gameboy Advance. Whilst it doesn't change any gameplay mechanics, it does change the way the game is played - if that makes sense - from a 3D environment to one that is a 2D sidescroller of sorts and is more of a puzzler than your typical 2D sidescroller; however, it's not fully a puzzler, either, it's still very much so a platform game at heart - it just has puzzle aspects.
The game itself falls somewhere between Door to Phantomile and Lunatea's Veil, and it finds Klonoa waking up in the Kingdom of Jillius, rules by the insomniac Emperor Jillius, wherein dreams are outlawed and since Klonoa was dreaming, he finds himself in a bit of a bother as the Emperor is an insane git and has decreed that if he cannot dream, no one can. Instead of punishing Klonoa by convential methods, such as decapitation, the Emperor instead decides that if Klonoa can - somehow - defeat the four fiends (the game abstractly refers to them as monsters) terrorising the Empire, then he'll be spared.
For convenience, and simplicity, most of the scenes will be posted in the thread. This is because they are basically just a lot of talking; scenes prior to bosses are fairly short and so will be left in the videos (unless the general consensus is to remove them from the videos also) and, with the exception of the first, all scenes following bosses will be omitted from videos as well.
Introduction (paraphrased above):
Klonoa: Hey, what the...! Stop!!
Klonoa gets dragged off to see the ruler.
Jillius: empire!!
Klonoa: Stranger? Where am I?
Bagoo: After all, dreams won't put food on the table.
Jillius: If you have time to spare, you should play, work, or fall in love. Dreams are of no use.
Klonoa: No!
Jillius: Hmmph! You dare to defy me?
Bagoo: Insolent boy! The Emperor suffeers from insomnia and you dare speak such nonsense. You shall pay for your insolence!
Jillius: Wait. Let us test his mettle.
Bagoo: His mettle?
Bagoo: Our gracious Emperor shall pardon you if you get rid of them all. However, you will soon realize your folly. Heh, heh, heh.
Klonoa: Where IS this place?
Huepow: Let's take a look around. Maybe we'll find a clue.
Klonoa: You're right. Let's go!
*gets hit*
Ghazzaean: Don't you wimps know anything? Here in Ghazzaland, only strength is respected.
Huepow: If you love fighting so much, why don't you fight the monster?
Ghazzean 2: beast.
Klonoa: So whoever defeats the monster becomes the new champion?
Ghazzean 2: But it's not that easy, and it might hurt, you know?
Klonoa: So, where is this monster?
Huepow: OK, let's check it out.
Klonoa: OK, let's go.
Ghazzaean: Hey, Wait! You don't stand a chance.

Pictured: Beryll.
Klonoa: Muzika?
Beryll: She's a world famous soprano, and the pride of this Opera House. But lately she's been giving everyone a headache by singing like that.
Huepow: Sounds like a monster to me.
Beryll: A monster?! Please don't say that about Muzika! Her songs were so simply yet meaningful, and she used to sing so beautifully... But now...
Klonoa: Well, let's go and check it out.

Klonoa: The townsfold were suffering because of your "singing"...
Muzika: What do you mean? I dreamt of singing the most beautiful songs, and spreading peace and happiness throughout the land.
Huepow: Beryll mentioned loving your songs.
Muzika: What? Beryll? Oh yes, I remember ...
Muzika: But I can't remember the song...
Huepow: Hey, Klonoa. Could someone be taking advantage of peoples' dreams?
Muzika: Each time I tried to remember the song, a mist appeared and everything went quiet.
Klonoa: Mist? It wasn't
red was it?
Muzika: Thanks to you, I'm ready to sing again. Now I must practice a new song to sing for Beryll.
Klonoa: Good luck Muzika.
Muzika: Thank you. Farewell.
Klonoa: We're in luck. There's a restaurant. Let's go!
Waiter: Here you are.
Waiter: there's no food.
Klonoa: Not even meat?
Waiter: Unfortunately everything was gobbled up by a huge monster from the mountains.
Huepow: A monster?!
Waiter: Only these carrots are left... If this keeps up the townsfolk will be gobbled up too.
Klonoa: A monster with a huge appetite, who dislikes carrots...
Huepow: Lets go and get our steak back!

Huepow: But you hate carrots, right?
Chirin: Carrots! Speaking of carrots...

Huepow: How did that happen?
Maris: A monster appeared in the valley and spread a new sickness around. Now everybody has a fever.
Klonoa: Isnt there a doctor around?
Maris: Well, no... Dr. Medim has disappeared. He was such a great doctor too...Cough.
Huepow: Aha!! Perhaps he's caught up in a strange dream as well.

Since it's three videos away, try and guess who the villain is! Based on known characters, you have a 50-50 chance of being right. Guess emphasised, because I'd rather someone not spoil it. Common decency etc.

Jillius: I realize now that to give dreams to my people, and to protect those dreams, is my purpose. I thank you, Klonoa.
Klonoa: Your Highness! Your Highness!! ...ness ... wake up, Your Highness!
Jillius: Dear citizens! I had a dream, and in it I met a boy. He traveled throughout my twisted dreams and helped free me from my nightmares. I realize now that I was wrong. Happiness is not in dreaming, but in striving

Warning: contains some Door to Phantomile spoilers, but I'd presume you've either already played that or don't really care if you're watching this.
I enjoyed the set. I assure you that the levels are far more interesting for those of us who know nothing about the game.
I was surprised to hear that we're near the end, though. I didn't realise that the game was so short, although that's probably to be expected given that it's a Gameboy Advance game. I keep forgetting that this is a handheld game.
Anyway, I shall look forward to the next set.

Some of the puzzles are definitely getting fiendish though. And the last part of the boss fight... very evil.
As to the big baddie...
Anyway, have the last area of the game;
Huepow: I doubt they'll let us in. Let's find another entrance. These castles always have secret tunnels.
An undisclosed length of time passes.
Klonoa: Huff, huff. Well, that was a waste of time.

So, yeah, it was all a dream. Or was it?
Next time: EX Vision 1. Au revoir, et beau chance.
Regarding the ending, that was kinda unexpected but it seemed appropriate.
I assume the upcoming EX visions are basically murderously hard versions of existing levels? I know Valkyria Chronicles used the EX tag to indicate that there was much pain ahead for the player. It'll be interesting to see those. I look forward to them.

The EX Visions are supposed to be the hardest levels of the game. I, personally, find 5-6 harder however. That's not to say that they aren't hard, mind, because they are (...apart from EX 1, which is a total joke). They each have unique requirements for unlocking them;
EX Vision 1 requires the final boss beaten. That's it.
EX Vision 2 requires every regular level beaten, in some capacity. Whether you get every gem or not is irrelevent.
EX Vision 3, however, requires every level beaten with all the gems. This includes EX 1 and EX 2.
EX 1 and EX 3 are fast-paced platformers, and are kind of short. EX 3 can take a very long time, because you have to constantly chain jump repeatedly. It also throws a ton of extra lives at you, and if you screw up in the latter half, you'll probably need them.
EX 2, on the other hand, is a puzzle level through and through. It's the longest of the three, and it's pretty hard in its own way. It might seem easy at a first glance, but merely finishing the level is no easy task, especially finishing it with all 30 gems. The final puzzle, in particular, takes a long time to do.
There's no commentary, in any capacity, on these videos because there really isn't anything left to say at this point. Even if there was, I'd likely have just done the same.
This is probably a giant wall of text, comparatively, at this point so without further ado...
