The release date is February 2008.
And Dracil, it is a real-time 4X game. It's a cross between the RTS and 4X genres. However, I should at least warn you that you shouldn't think you can simply warp or travel all over the place in a free, non-linear environment. Galactic Civilizations 2, for instance, is non-linear. You can travel to any point on the map, because the map is essentially a square. Sins of a Solar Empire is divided into planet/asteroid systems. Zooming out, you can see other planets or asteroid systems connected via a line, and that line is the lane you travel to another planet or asteroid. It's kind of like playing the humans in Sword of the Stars, and those who have played that game will know what I mean. It's still a great deal of fun, however, and I'm still buying it on release.

This makes me a happy panda.
Seriously, I was expecting RT4X, not RTRPG. |
