Arcadia Battle Academy (Pokemon CCG) :

Old 10-22-2007, 10:47 AM
What: A bunch of PA/Pokemon fans get together with Gabe (and possibly other members of the PA staff) to play various Pokemon games, mostly focused on the CCG, but also including the Pokemon miniatures game, as well as Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and Sapphire/Emerald.
When: 6:00-8:00PM, every other Tuesday, starting October 30th (next get-together is Monday, December 10th, due to conflict with Child's Play charity dinner).
Where: The Comic Stop, in Lynnwood, WA. Google map.

I know a lot of you picked up starter decks and that's great. If you're looking for more info on building your deck try this site:

http://pokegym.net/forums/

The deck help forum has some great tips. Also some people were playing with old cards which is fine by me. Many of the old expansions are considered illegal now though and if you're interested in finding out if your deck is still legal you can check this thread:

http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?t=41415

Like I said it doesn't bother me but if we ever decide to do any actual tournaments you will probably want a legal deck to play with.

Feel free to use this thread to ask questions and discuss the event.

I wish I could get back into the card business. But unfortunately the gaming scene is already expensive as it is... I don't need to add card collecting, which is much more expensive.

That said, Lynnwood is where? I'd swing over if it's close. I'd like to see how sort of thing goes.

Edit: Oh, Washington. (Quick google search found it) Well that's more than an hour drive from Ohio haha. So have fun guys.

I'm bringing several decks (and some trade, looking for an Alakazam and/or Weavile), a TFG team (and some trade stuff, looking for a Skarmory), and DP DS goodness.

Should be fun!

I also only have the DS games, but since this event is within walking distance of my house, perhaps I could learn something about the card game while I'm there. XD

I don't have any cards. But I will show up, if only so my son can see how the game is played to see if he likes it at all.

id love to come, and think i will, but my only deck is from the base set era... its fairly good, i think... but what about the video game? i have a kickass team (non legends, its boring using them) i just hope i wont be the only one to bring the game. and i hope that i dont have stuff to do. tomorrow, right?

I'll probably go to this. I only have a few cards, all from the original Basic set (sparing a few from the Jungle set), but I'll have a well-loaded Diamond game (anyone have a Elekid w/ it's item?). The figure game looks a bit interesting.
I'm not entirely sure if I'll do this on a regular basis (it is a 40+ minute drive, that and gas prices [ugg]), but I'm willing to do this at least once.

The pictures of the figure game I saw online look nice. Wouldn't mind some of those even if they were just for show. If only I wasn't halfways across the country, I'd check it out.

Any adults play in the leagues closer to Seattle proper? I can't find a bus route to get to the Comic Stop...and even if I could, it would be an hour one way.

I just wanna play the TFG... but I would feel too crazy if I drove up from Portland to play it, even if it is with Gabe. [heart]

Gabe, you think after you finish the pokemon fan art you drew today, you could post a high res background of it? That picture is freaking sweet.

I'd be all about playing if I lived in that area. I really wanna play the TFG, those figures look great, awesome details, but I doubt anyone around here will be playing...

Second. That Piplup, Buizel, and Turtwig are badass.

Bah, living in NY sotra prevents me from attending. Only got one deck left from my once-mighty 2000+ cards, anyway, but the TFG loks interesting.

I don't actually play the Pokemon card game (and my lack of DS has left me unable to play either Diamond or Pearl ;_;), but ironically I live roughly 5 minutes away from this Comic Stop. Maybe I'll show up and learn something.
