Okay so it was time to start Orking out the Rhino. This is my first ... erm.. conversion with plasticard...

Note... My fingers burn from pressing down with tons of force to cut this junk with my hobby knife.. suggestions there?

Below are pics... Its in its first stages so its pretty simple at this point. Trying to keep with the deff skullz theme here.

If you have the cash there Gahm, a Jewler's Saw or a Razor Saw will help immenstly on cutting the stuff. They both work on Metal, but I recommend the jewler's saw, as it can also make really nice precision cuts on metal miniatures, something I've found the razor saw not as good at.

Rhino is looking good so far. I've always wanted to see a Rhino conversion where they Ork guy takes out the front panel and puts in a driver and passenger seat. Just seems funny to me, that the Orks would take out the armor so they could see the fight better or something.

I just spent all morning putting Kroq-Gar together.

Son of a bitch that was not easy.

My superglue has gone to utter crap. Going to buy better stuff this afternoon.

Did you leave the rider separate from the Carnosaur? That'd just make it easier to paint, but it's up to you.

And damn, the Carnosaur model is awesome. I'm surprised you don't see it more as a mount for other armies, or in more conversions or something.

Heh heh heh.

Also, I fail to understand how Kroq-Gar is hard to put together. Is it just the dude on top? Because the 'saur itself is one of the easiest to assemble lead models out there...

The rider is a bitch and the tail was non-cooperative.

Of course, the Stegadon has taught me all new levels of pain.

I've glued on the rider because he'll be pretty easy to paint with him on/off. I paint cold one riders who have much more detail in places with the riders attached, so this guy will be a piece of cake compared to some of the [very] challenging cold one riders I've painted.

If you keep it in a plastic bag in the fridge, it stays good much, much, much longer. Keeps moisture out, which is what causes superglue to dry and ultimately lose its sticky.

I have assembled a griffon. As a preface to this, I need to say I bought it for $25 Australian second hand from my LGS. I thought it a bargain. A complete Karl Franz model, less than half price, still unassembled! Hapy with my purchase, I returned home and tried to dry fit it. None of the 7 pieces stuck together properly. On closer examination I could see that the previous owner had hacked and filed away in an attempt to get it to fit, but must have given up and flogged it. I spent some time filing and fitting and eventually gave up. This was some time last year. Last night, driven by the Campaign I'm running/involved in, I stuck the bastard together. It took a lot of desperation, a lot of superglue, some pins, and a whole mess of greenstuff. I essentially had to scupt the thing a new arse to get the tail to stick on. So without further ado:

I hate metal models so much sometimes: especially because the recent plastics I've seen are as detailed as any metal model I've seen.

I won't touch on metals vs plastics, but I will say that the Plastic HE dragon was an absolute breeze to put together and looks fantastic.

It completely proved to me that you can make an incredible model and have it easy to actually assemble.

Edit: Hell, I'm buying a second Dragon and am making it into a zombie dragon. Because it's plastic it's easy to sculpt and work with, making the conversion so much simpler.

Props to you Asher for following through! That thing looks really neat, and I cant wait to see it painted up.

I am curious though , you mentioned your campaign inspired you to complete the project... How does the Gryphon tie in? (Let the Fluff begin! Oh and if you feel that its too off topic for your thread I'd be interested in hearing it in PM, if you wish to waste the time typing it out! =D )

Cheers!

In terms of background, after taking the town in a single assault, rather than the expected protracted siege, and slaying the giant personally, Werver Von Schramm was granted access to the Imperial Zoo and chose the Griffon Surewing as his steed. (Actually, it was the other way around. When a several tonne Bird-Lion monster thing decides its your best friend, theres not much you can do about it.)
On a more practical front, my opponents were getting sick of facing 3 or 4 warmachines every game, and the only way I can do a 2k army without them is if I take a Griffon and more knights. (I also assembled another 6 Reiksguard, but they were easy.)

Hey, does anyone know a good way to do copper-colored models? I've been thinking over paint schemes for my Necrons, and copper with green detailing seemed like a neet idea to me.

Just finished converting a Saurus Champion into a general army standard bearer and scar veteran on cold one for my own nefarious purposes. Hiding the chop and change on the spear was a bit of an effort though. Especially when I got over exhuberant with the standard and accidentally pushed it down making it look crooked.

And my Army standard bearer.

He's a southpaw.
