Fire, Fire, Burning Bright
Spoiler:
Nothing will come of us moping here all night... let us finish things with the Jester.
I am getting tired of the sight of these doors...
Olivie: Your concern for me is wasted. I am expected.
Chunk: I guess you can go on up. He wasn't expecting you, but it should be alright.
Olivie: It will be.
Funny how so many little things can build into...
Do not think on that. That is how the Grout was discovered.
LaCroix: The Sabbat?
Olivie: Historical.
LaCroix: My unstoppable crusader... my victories in this city are in no small part due to you. You've done what i've asked without question, and you've done it well. Take this small token of my appreciation. We'll rule this city side by side, you and I.
Olivie: I know something I won't tell... it's about the key. ...whoops.
LaCroix: You found the key? Where? Who has it?
Olivie: The queen mongoose, Xiao, your ally, king snake! Selling your siblings to her!
LaCroix: This nonsense again... look, I told you before... no Kindred would ever ally themselves with those demons. This is subterfuge, a trick to start a civil war... and apparently it's worked.
Olivie: Xiao wears the skins of her whims. In Nines' skin, she slew our primogen.
LaCroix: As of this moment there is no blood hunt against Nines Rodriguez. The Kuei-Jin have revealed their plot. They want us to war against each other?! Well, to that I propose an alliance with the anarchs. Together, we Kindred shall drive out these foreigners once and for all!
Olivie: Hee hee... HA HA HA HA HA... Never.
LaCroix: Whether they trust me or not, the Kuei-Jin are the greater threat. They do trust you, however. After all, you've been working for them all this time.
Olivie: Ha ha ha... huh?
Olivie: They. Are. Going. To. Love. It.
LaCroix: Go to the Last Round, immediately. Tell them the Kuei-Jin have admitted to killing Grout and that the blood hunt against Nines Rodriguez is officially over. Tell them I have realized the true threat the Kuei-Jin pose and wish to negotiate a pact. You will be my emissary for the alliance, so naturally, you speak on behalf of the Camarilla. Choose your words carefully. I will begin organizing plans for war. Good luck. The prosperity of all this city's Kindred depends on your success tonight.
Olivie: You can't spell success without whatever the hell my name is.
The look on Damn Sail's face... I wish I had a camera for it...
We can snap a picture in our memo-
Beckett: Wait!
Olivie: I AM SO SICK OF THAT BOX!
Beckett: Don't open it. Whatever you do, do not open the Ankaran sarcophagus.
Olivie: But Beckett promised me it was nothing in a previous episode.
Beckett: Despite what I said... if that sarcophagus is opened, there will be disaster. In what form, I can't be sure- but after studying the evidence, i'm convinced now that it is better left undisturbed. Anyone who'd pursue any other course is deserving of the consequences.
Olivie: Did your conclusion come to you in a vision? A voice? An omen?
Olivie: What did the Tiger say to the Zebra? Hey, hold onto these stripes for me.
Beckett: I never said the danger came from an antediluvian, did I? It's merely a possibility, a fraction of a percentage chance. My instincts tell me something is wrong here, and that sarcophagus seems to be the nexus. I'm distancing myself from it- you do as you see fit.
Olivie: I will tattoo your words on my future self.
Beckett: I have the feeling we will not meet again. Goodbye... and remember my warning.
Farewell, Wolf.
I bet they will be happy to see us... everyone else is.
Damsel: 'Sup?
Olivie: LaCroix courts the lady from the East. From the lips of the lady herself- they danced together under our noses.
Damsel: THAT BASTARD! HE SOLD US OUT?!
Olivie: LaCroix wants to dance with us now, dance all over the lady's grave.
Olivie: YES! But know the bloodhunt is over. It was Xiao who killed a part of us.
Damsel: WE TOLD HIM NINES DIDN'T DO IT! That son of a... and that Kuei-Jin bitch! If I ever get my hands on her, i'll tie her eyelashes to her ass hairs and bowl her ass into a car compactor... demon whore!
Olivie: You should be a cherry bomb. Oh, that's good, I want to tell it to Nines.
Damsel: Okay... alright... i'm fine... Nines... yeah. I can't believe it's come to this, but I hate those goddamn devils even more than I hate that fascist dandy prince. Goddamn Xiao, if Nines hadn't told me to watch this place, i'd be over there right now making skank sushi.
Olivie: If you were on TV, i'd watch that show. But tonight I need to see channel Nines.
Olivie: Griffith Park. I am gone.
That was more straightforward than we are used to.
... aagh... why do you keep saying that? Stop jinxing us!
Seems like a nice place for a picnic. It's a wonder the number was not discovered.
Our first tram ride... that would have been enjoyable under better circumstances.
Come on... wasn't that fun?
... maybe...
Aahh, where's that smile? Oh, is that it?
Yeah... it was fun.
This is rather remote... it feels strange.
Olivie: He wants to collaborate with you on a project called "Destroy all Kuei-Jin."
Nines: Does he now? You know, we just ended a war with them, and we lost a lot of people- too many. Does he expect us to do all the fighting while the Camarilla throws mean looks from the sidelines? Or are they ready to go toe-to-toe with those goddamn devils?
Olivie: All will join the fray, until the last Kuei-Jin lies dead and we poke it with a stick.
Nines: I still don't trust LaCroix. But... then again, the Camarilla didn't wholesale slaughter us upon arrival. Goddamn it... i'm stuck between a rock and a son of a bitch.
Olivie: Lead your people or they will get lost.
Nines: Hmm... it just seems strange, LaCroix wanting to go to war against them all of a sudden... something's not right.
Olivie: If you think the Kuei-Jin are terrifying, you should see the things in my dreams.
Nines: Not what I mean, kid. Smell that? Smells like smoke. We've got to get out of here.
Olivie: What is this?
Olivie: But i'm FLAMMABLE!
Nines: No, kid, you don't understand. The fire wasn't set to kill us. Come on, we've got to get to the tram.
Olivie: Something is coming!
Nines: I didn't hide out here because it was a nice view. I did it because no one would come looking for me in these parts. This is werewolf country.
Olivie: I have a plan! We dress up like werewolves and tell them "they went that way".
Nines: Werewolves don't talk to us, werewolves don't care- they kill on sight. Now let's move.
Olivie: We can lick 'em. Then after we lick them, we'll tear out their guts!
Nines: No. No, we can't. You don't understand what these things are capable of. Guns are useless and getting close is suicide. The only thing to do is run. Now let's get to the tram- we can't waste any more time.
Olivie: Nobody back here, just us werewolves... just practicing. I'm following.
Nines: Shit! The tram's leaving! Come on kid, we've got to get inside that building and hide befo- aaaah!
No, not the number, too! Okay... okay... think...
Pears are really weird, do you think they grow like that because of gravity? Maybe it's a conspiracy from the onion peop-
Stop thinking! Let's go hide, like he was going to say.
... that is a bad sound...
Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap!
So much rage... amazing...
Stop wondering and run!
Owwww... inside, he is too small to fit...
Ah... do you think they built it to be werewolf-proof?
Aaaah... ceilings are overrated anyway...
Don't stop! He will tear down the entire building to get us!
Runrunrunrunrun! No time to sightsee!
Outside for a minute! He will have to break through more walls to get to us again...
Oooh... I feel compelled to yank this lever...
HE'S ALMOST HERE, DON'T FIDDLE WITH THINGS.
Back inside! Oh legs, why must you fail me?
He has shredded our arm... that we got away makes him even madder now...
NO! Not outside again! Flying debris is better than flying claws!
Giant steel doors... he cannot break those...
We can keep our peepers peeled and see if he is closing in...
Close it! Close it quick before he gets in and destroys us!
It's closing too slow... he will grab us for sure and eat our face!
Oh...
OHHHHHHH...
... I meant to do that...
We have to go before more come...
All this burning makes us uncomfortable.
That was not a good business lunch. No more werewolf caterers.
I think our ride has left... and we are still in the middle of nowhere...
Jack: Come on, kid, the sun's almost up! We've got to get out of here!
****************************
Olivie: I cannot see the weave of this web...
Jack: You're lucky I got to you first. Anyone else and you'd be a pile of cinders right now.
Olivie: I seek not such a fiery fate. What happened?
Jack: LaCroix put out the word- he says you're in league with the Kuei-Jin, Ming-Xiao's puppet, that you're the one who set up Nines for her. See, he's figured it all out, and now your death is a big bullet point in his new unity campaign. There's a blood hunt on you.
Olivie: I have no league with the life-eaters!
Jack: He had to turn things around on you real quick since you found out about his deal with Ming-Xiao. This is his plan B. Plan A was to kill you and Nines in Griffith Park.
Olivie: The Jester finally shows his colors!
Jack: Look, i'm here to help you... again... but dammit, it's time.
Olivie: The sands have run out, but I do not see where.
Jack: Time to make a choice.
Olivie: Did Nines escape the hellhound?
Jack: I hope you live to find out.
Olivie: I am blind!
Jack: You're going to have to stay off the street, stay on the move. It's open season on your ass. Vampires are gonna be bussing in from Sacramento to join in the hunt.
Olivie: I'll burn every one of these bastards...
Jack: You need backing. You need the protection of one of the factions. Friends are the last thing you want to be without right now. But you have to get out of here.
Olivie: My fury will speak in piles of ashes.
Olivie: Where then does this path lead me?
Jack: He'll take you... wherever. Wherever you feel safest.
Olivie: Okay.
Jack: In case we don't see each other again... nice knowin' ya, kiddo. Give 'em hell. They deserve it.
Hell... yes. It may be within our power to provide...
Oh, I do hope someone tries to get in our way...
We have enough death to share with everyone, tonight.
Pears are really weird, do you think they grow like that because of gravity? Maybe it's a conspiracy from the onion peop-
Stop thinking! Let's go hide, like he was going to say.

side with the Anarchs, Camarilla, Ming Xao or walk your own path? I'm hoping for the "Lone Wolf" ending, myself
Spoiler:
You missed one, if you talked to the true leader of the Camirilla about the gargoyle, you can join him instead of LaCroix. Its also a good ending
Spoiler:
I meant the Camarilla ending where you go with Strauss. The ending where you work with LaCroix is pretty much on the same level as the "schmuck" ending in Jade Empire, so I tend to ignore it.

I think I was too snarky to LaCroix to get his ending, and I definitely can't get Ming Xiao's, since I basically told her i'd kill her next time I saw her. It should be somewhat evident what i'm going to go for, and that'll be in the next update anyway. I'll leave it til then
I always pick the anarchs, something about a second carthage always appealed to me. And the fact that they did not once tried to screw with you.
How different is the ending with the other factions?
Spoiler:
Loner ending is identical to the Anarch one except you give them the finger and wander off. The Kue-Jin betray and throw you in the sarcophagus, then deposit it into the ocean.

The first time i played through i was still able to get Lacroix's ending even though
Spoiler:
he had to dominate me to get me to do anything
ed: Also, the scene at the end is especially awesome if you had played through in that manner
Ha, Olivie killing the Werewolf was a laugh; hey, given how many personalities she's got, she probably did mean to do what she did. I always kind of felt bad squashing it though. It looked so awkward for it to have its organs pulverised by steel doors as big as it was. But golly, motherfucker was big, wasn't he? From someone who knows the OWoD better than I, would it be possible to kill a Werewolf that way? I recall that they used to have fantastic regenerative properties, and if anything giving it the door treatment would just make him angrier in the long term.
Oh, and also...
Spoiler:
Everyone spotted the Sheriff in the Tram leaving as the fire started, right?
This post has inspired me to install and play the game again. I was considering Ventrue as my race (I tried Tremere my first run through and got to Chinatown before I stopped) - is this a good or terrible choice? I wanted to try Celerity but I don't like Torreador or Brujah outfits, so that's out of the cards.
Additionally, how viable is Brawling as a skill to focus on?

Brawling is very good for the entire game. For the start of it, it's the best close combat weapon until you can get the fire axe. Even after you start using weapons, it's still useful because the higher your brawling, the more likely you are to succeed a feed attempt against a hostile opponent.
So why does the sun kill vampires, but not UV radiation? What exactly is it about the sun that does it?
God.
So why don't crosses work then?
'cause God doesn't care enough to make them work. But if you had a dot or two of True Faith, you could do it. (With any holy symbol or just your sheer force of righteousness...)
We will not fear any longer. We will not fear the international terrorists; we will thwart them. We will not fear the recognition of the manipulation of our yearning for safety; we will call that what it is: terrorism. We will not fear identifying the vulgar hypocrites in our government; we will name them. And we will not fear George W. Bush, nor will we fear because George W. Bush wants us to fear.
