From those vids, Sonic 2k6 actually looks pretty good

To the game's credit, there are a handful of levels that are totally awesome.
There are just far more that are utter dogshit.

Probably any level not involving Sonic.

The level where you chase a train as Sonic is fantastic. My favourite moment in Sonic2006.
Also, if this game doesn't come to the 360 I'll be incredibly annoyed.

To be honest, even the levels where you don't play as Sonic were fun. Shadow's car parts were absolutely ridiculous, but the car controlled alright, and otherwise Shadow was just like Sonic. In fact, I thought Silver's levels were really fun, his whole telepathy thing was actually very intuitive.
Really, to tell the truth, and people are going to majorly disagree with me on this, I thought that on a whole Sonic 2k6 was a much better game than SatSR (if you skipped the cutscenes). Neither of them are great (or good, even) games, as both of them had enormous flaws, but I just honestly had more fun playing Sonic 2k6 than I did with SatSR. Now, storyline and cutscene wise I'd significantly prefer SatSR, but that's obvious. I just thought that the gameplay in Sonic 2k6 wasn't bad, and was primarily seen as such because it has random fluctuations in difficulty. Also, the loading screens and times were absolutely freakin' ridiculous.

I thought Silver's first level was okay, but in all honesty I couldn't finish his second level (I got stuck and had no idea what to do) and on Shadow's second level it switched control over to Rogue the bat so I put the game away forever, never to be seen again.
I also personally preferred SatSR (as I'm sure most did), but I didn't think Sonic2006 was as horrible as everyone said it was. If the load times weren't so bad, and the story wasn't so horrible, I probably would put it on par with SatSR.

With all this hubbub about it here, I might as well ask. Is sonic rush teh awesome? I loved the gamegear/genesis sonics, I've downloaded 1-3 on my wii questioning how much enjoyment I would get out of them due to the complexity of videogames evolving and found I loved the games just as much if not more than as a kid. If sonic rush holds up against 1-3, I'd buy it.

I liked it a lot, and I've been playing Sonic since Sonic 2. My opinion isn't really the law around here like TSR's is or something, but I'd say give it a shot. As I said a few pages back the levels are a bit obsessed with Bottomless pits and the boss' sometimes have unfair one-hit kill moves but it's definitely worth a play. Apparently Sonic Rush Adventure works out some of Rush's flaws, but I haven't played that yet. Just something to think about. |
